False negatives with cheapy one-step pregnancy tests?

Has anyone experienced false negatives with the cheap bulk ‘one-step’ tests you can get from Amazon?

We started TTC baby #3 last month and on the day AF was due I got a really faint positive which appeared after about 5 minutes, before I had the chance to get to the shop for a clearblue AF had arrived so told myself it was an evaporation line.

I’m due AF again today and have just had this very faint line appear after 2 minutes, testing at lunch time. I’m trying my best not to get too excited incase it’s the same as last month but it’s definitely slightly darker than last months!

Do you mean false positives?
If that came up in the time it looks positive. Last month's could easily have been positive too if it was a five minute time frame, but you could still have had an early miscarriage and it been a chemical pregnancy. It's unusual to get false positives on these cheapy tests if you read them in the time frame. Loads on the clear blue ones, but those tend to be very thin lines, not the usual wider line you'd get if pregnant.

Yes they are known for it and wondfo too. Asda/ Sainsbury’s / Morrisons test are also bad for giving false positives too

It’s not unusual to get false positives. There’s hundreds of threads about them and it happened to me for 6 months in a row until I actually fell pregnant with my last baby. One step are awful tests for false positives along with wondfo/ preview. The best tests I found which never once gave a false positive were the premom orange tests

thank you @Chunkyblacklab sorry yes I meant false positives but couldn’t figure out how to edit the post! 🤦🏼‍♀️

i took a CB this pm and have another faint positive so looks like the cheapy test is correct after all but going to test again in the morning🤞🏼🤞🏼

Can see lines on both tests, I would take them as positive! Last month it might have been a chemical pregnancy as others said, as they can show a faint line before bleeding. Hope this morning's test went ok.

Thank you @DinoDances, I had two faint positive tests this morning too! 🤞🏼 My only concern is that they are still all super faint, I didn’t track ovulation properly this month but if Flo is correct, I’m 16dpo so I thought they’d be darker by now unless I ovulated later than I thought 🤷🏼‍♀️

im going to grab a clearblue digital today for peace of mind!
