Pregnant or leftover hormones ?

Hello ! Looking for some advice... I had a miscarriage 5 weeks ago...and hoping to conceive again. We have been actively trying but obviously my cycle isnt totallyas normal after miscarrying. I took a pregnancy test two days ago and was positive but unsure is this likely to be a new pregnancy or leftover hormones ? Have taken more since tests and all have a positive result. Has anyone experienced this before.. I'm not sure what is more likely. Obviously hoping I am pregnant again but not sure if it's possible , thank you 😌

My understanding is that it could be either - try getting the clear blue tests that give you a time estimate (3+ weeks etc) and then compare over time. Alternatively compare lines on the cheaper tests, are they getting darker or lighter over a few days?

I’m so sorry to hear about your miscarriage. How far along were you? And how was it managed? Has your period come back since - how long ago?

This happened to me many years ago with my first pregnancy. I had an early miscarriages (about 7 weeks) and didn’t have a period before testing positive again. It caused some doubt about dates and whether I’d been carrying twins and had lost one of them. Turned out I’d simply got pregnant very quickly after the miscarriage. Went on to have a very healthy baby boy.

Did you get a negative test at all after your miscarriage? It’s definitely possible I miscarried 8th April and was pregnant again and testing positive by 3rd May without a period in between so it could definitely be a new pregnancy! Have you got a local EPU? Mine did HCG bloods for me which confirmed they were rising and it was a new pregnancy

its possible. I had a miscarriage in April had a negative test on May 1st and then got my positive on 27th of May, currently 8 weeks pregnant. Had an ultrasound on Friday and all is looking good. I didn’t have a period in between. The exact same thing happened in 2023 I had a miscarriage and got pregnant soon after with no period in between. If you had a negative test likelihood is it’s a new pregnancy. I’d contact your Epu. That’s what I did and they arranged bloods and scan to check all is ok. Best of luck I know how anxiety inducing it can be following a miscarriage

Thanks everyone, sorry for your losses too ❤️ I was 10 weeks along,,,bled for nearly two weeks. Never tested after as bleeding stopped and all my symptoms went away ! No period and haven't noticed my usual ovulation symptoms but test strips said I ovulated a couple weeks ago. Very confused by it all. Tested again today 1-2 weeks on the digital test, and a line on the other ( not strong but not faint either ! ) . Guessing my period will come soon if I'm not pregnant , just frustrating not knowing 😅
