Spiralling over BFP then BFN

I’ll preface this by saying I’m an old hand (in terms of cycles and testing - on TTC cycle 30!) I know you shouldn’t really compare tests more than every 48hrs, and that they’re qualitative not quantitative BUT, we’ve had multiple chemicals and it’s so hard not to overthink!

I had a faint but clear line on an easy at home test first thing this morning. I dipped a clear blue weeks digital in the same pre which said pregnant 1-2 weeks. But I’ve tested twice during the day, my urine didn’t look dilute, and both have been negative. (The first one now I’ve looked at it dry does have a VVVFL but didn’t appear at the time).

I don’t think this is due to drinking and it being dilute (it’s a heatwave so probably a bit dehydrated!!).

is it possible it’s just because HCG is still low and it fluctuates? Or should I be prepping for another chemical 😫

I am also 12DPO which seems a tad late for such a faint line on easy at home, but I know it’s fine to get a first positive on 12DPO, and I may have ovulated a day or too later.

I’d leave it a few days and test again. I never got a positive til my period was late; about 15 Dpo. Your urine would have been diluted even if didnt look it.

Yes thats true. I did go to the loo 2ish hrs before doing the test but wouldn’t have been drinking as usual through the night.

I’ve got a blood test booked for Monday. I just want to manage my expectations I guess as to the outcome

I think it's much more likely that the HCG was too diluted in your urine. Even if it's hot you'll be drinking more, it's why they always recommend first morning wee. On my ovulation tests I will only ever get above 1 with FMU, during the day it's down to 0.5, then back up to above 1 the next morning even though my LH levels would be the same throughout.

12dpo is not late for a faint positive. It's the first time many people see one. 10dpo is totally normal for implantation then it can take a couple of days for hcg to build up. I think you've had bad experiences so your mind is guarding itself and you're automatically going to the negative. You're pregnant, 2 tests said so, unless you start heavily bleeding. Congratulations.

I’d guard my heart to be honest, OP. But don’t think you’re completely out. The same happened to me, I had a very very obvious positive on 9DPO on 5 different tests and by 11DPO it was completely gone. It started fading the same day.
But this doesn’t mean it will be the same for you. It is simply too early to say and if you are pregnant the best thing you can do it keep calm and wait to test when it will be conclusive (24-48 hours after first test)

Pretty certain I am out as easy at home and digital both negative this morning 😓 but I don’t feel too awful as I knew it was coming x

Aw I'm sorry that's tough. With my chemical my tests started out faint at 13dpo, bleeding at 14dpo, but the tests got stronger for about 2 weeks after the heavy bleeding. Had a scan that showed nothing there so definitely wasn't still pregnant, but blood tests showed HCG went up to 90. It's a horrible thing, but means I don't rely on darkening tests.

Oh that’s really interesting! I didn’t know that could happen.
Ive had such a mix, lots of chemicals where I’ve had a faint BFP for max 2 days, and also where I’ve had darkening tests that got to about 15/16dpo then started fading again.
my period is due tomorrow and tbh I think it’ll arrive tomorrow.
