Not trying but bought baby stuff?

Has anyone bought small baby stuff even if you’re not trying YET but have agreed you want a child next within the next year with your partner. My sister has donated me some baby clothes, obviously my partner isn’t ready to try yet till next year but said he is happy for us to keep them etc. Wonder if anyone was on a similar page. x

I personally wouldn’t OP, you never know how trying to conceive is going to go so I’d be wary of ending up with lots of baby bits in the house

Your partner might see it as pressuring him to try before he’s ready and I would be wary of that.

Have you also considered how hard it will be to have that stuff around if things don’t go smoothly when you start trying?

Keep what you already have but keep it out of sight and I would avoid accumulating more baby things until you’re 12+ weeks pregnant ❤️

But you didn’t buy them, your sister passed them on to you. Buying baby clothes when you’re not even trying for a baby would be weird.
I would just put them away out of sight for now.

I bought baby clothes before trying for a baby. I really wanted one, DH took ages to make his mind up about getting married and having children. If I saw something really lovely for a baby I bought it and put it away in my ‘bottom drawer’ ! Not lots of stuff, just a few beautiful tiny things.

Sorry I worded this wrong. yes, I mean my sister is giving me alot of stuff from her baby, even more as he grows out of everything. X

Presumably they are for a particular sex and season which means you maybe won't want them even when you do fall pregnant? Seems mad to keep them and quite CF of her to dump on you really!

As someone who ended up going through 5 years of fertility treatment with no reason to expect to need it... I would seriously rethink this.

I really hope it all happens for you easily but if it doesn't, you will not want to look at that stuff!
