HG TTC/Pregnancy support group!

I thought I might start a thread for anyone TTC who will likely have another HG pregnancy.

It’s such an exciting time but also the terrifying feeling of knowing what’s to come can feel so alone. It would be great to get a little support group going!

This won’t be my first pregnancy but we’re both hoping against hope it will be the first where I will be able to make it through the first two months.

I’d love to hear from anyone else in the same boat.

Hey! I'll join! I am TTC for our rainbow baby 🌈

I've had 3 HG pregnancies.
1st pregnancy - HG lasted until delivery
2nd pregnancy - HG eased up at 28 weeks
3rd pregnancy - by far the worse HG yet, miscarried at 13 weeks.

For all of them I was admitted to hospital numerous times. I've just recovered properly from my last HG pregnancy that ended in miscarriage. It caused me to lose excessive weight, damaged my oesophagus, and fear of food for fear of vomiting!

I'm so desperate for baby number 3...but so scared because I know what I will have to deal with and it will take away me being 100% on form for my two little ones. However my children are amazing, easy going, and I have a great husband who understands HG and supports me. Xx

Thank you for joining, I'm so sorry to hear about your MC.

How far into TTC are you?

This month we (and by we, I mean me - my lovely OH has been ready for about a year) finally felt emotionally ready to try again. It's just so heavy knowing what's to come, and all the planning. Would be fine if you have no animals/job/children but it's like a FT job trying to prepare to be bedridden for months 😑

So November - February I was pregnant...Miscarried in February...

  1. March cycle
  2. April cycle Got pregnant end of April cycle that ended in an early miscarriage but I didn't experience HG (only mild morning sickness so don't count this as a HG pregnancy).

Miscarriage bleeding ended beginning of May....so currently 4DPO! Don't think I'll be lucky this month

How about you?

We have been ttc again after I had a termination for HG last year. I’m terrified. Like you say it’s like preparing to be bedridden. I keep crying eating my favourite foods !! I know I’ll hate them and be hungry if I get pregnant and it’s making me ridiculously upset.

I’ve had 2 HG pregnancies previously. On medication for the full pregnancies both times and I had GD which made it even harder to manage. I’m dreading it but also desperate for one last baby to complete our family.

Last year I couldn’t do it and I was devastated. I had severe complications from one of the anti sickness medications which gave me psychosis and I terminated. It was horrendous.

I completely feel you. I terminated at about 7 weeks last year because of the HG, it was absolutely horrendous. I think I puked every 10 minutes for 24 hours one of the days. I keep thinking I’m mad to even consider it again but it’s so hard to give up on the dream isn’t it?

Are you doing anything special to prepare this time? I have some Cyclizine, and Doxylamine to hand but I am going to make an appointment as soon as I find out to get some ondansetron dissolvable tablets.

I didn’t track ovulation this month, just DTD vaguely at the right time, so I’ve got a 50/50 chance I guess! Ridiculously I took a test today at 6DPO!!

@scaredButTrying I forgot to say, I’m so sorry you experienced hellish side effects. I had horrendous extrapyramidal effects from one of the drugs they gave me last time annd ended up in hospital via ambulance and it gave me PTSD. As if HG isn’t enough for us to cope with!

I just want to say it is so reassuring to see other women with the same thoughts as me. I still feel guilty that termination crossed my mind in my first pregnancy when I was about 10 weeks and had HG with COVID. But honestly I did think about it and I've never forgiven myself xxx

anniehall12 · 31/05/2026 06:13

Hey everyone. Anyone else been successful this month? I've got my BFP! So excited but sooooo nervous. I'm pretty sure I can feel the nausea coming on already. My sense of smell has definitely heightened! :( xx

therandomUN · 31/05/2026 16:41

@anniehall12 It is SO normal to feel that way! There are people who have terminated IVF pregnancies due to HG. You would have to be a saint to not have it cross your mind at the very least.

I came on to give an update and saw your news!! Amazing and congrats! I also got a positive today! I’m honestly in shock - I don’t know when I ovulated this month and I have taken about 5 tests over the last 5 days, all stark white apart from one where I thought I could see a vvv faint line!

Have you told your partner yet? Mine is at work and I’m waiting for him to come home to tell him!

Yayy! Congratulationsssss! How exciting (& scary) it's super early days, I haven't even 'missed my period yet'! But so happy we have been lucky xx

I am really praying this pregnancy I don't have HG...I'd happy have 'morning sickness' than HG

I would like to say, do you find HG lonely? Like no other pregnant woman I know has experienced it within my family and friend groups so it makes me feel awkward and in my pregnancy they would just say the most stupid things like oh can't the doctor just give you some medicine!!!!!

It's like only other HG survivors know the depths of this sickness and everyone else is completely unaware how horrendous it is! Xxxx

100%. To be honest it's why I started this thread. I don't know anyone else IRL who's had it (my sister is the closest, she vomited all throughout and was on Xonvea but she could still function most of the time).

My SIL (extremely well meaning but...) said to me last time 'I find that you just lean into the sickness and almost enjoy it as it's a sign baby is OK' - I just said 'Girl there is no way in hell anyone is leaning into HG' 😂

Are you doing anything to prepare meds wise?

@anniehall12 how are you?

Hey @therandomUN

It's kicking my ass already! For the past couple days I've had that horrible feeling of constant nausea, excessive saliva, food aversions and dry retching 😭😭😭 not vomiting as yet so that's a huge positive! I'm only roughly 5-6 weeks

It's so hard as you know. I really want another baby. But going through HG is just awful. I'm wondering why I'm doing it to myself! I've just barely got over having HG in my pregnancy that ended. I lost so much weight and have a difficult relationship with food cause I associate it with being sick :(

I think I may reach out for some type of professional support....

How are you doing lovely? Xxx
