Letrozole doesn’t seem to be working

I’m worried Letrozole is having no effect on me. I am doing unmedicated cycles on the nhs (as per their prescription).

I first took Letrozole 2.5mg 1-6 may and unfortunately came back on my period on 12th may after no ovulation. I only made it to CD 12 before starting my next cycle.

My gynae advised I start letrozole 5mg immediately on 13 - 17 may which I have now completed. I realise it’s extremely early I’m still cycle day 9 but my LH tests are so faint there’s barely even a second line there and I think the exact same thing is going to happen again. I just feel so sad.

id like to know if anyone has experienced something similar but later found that their body finally started to respond? I tried to research for other people who got their period half way through their letrozole cycle but couldn’t find anything I just feel really alone.

I’ve also been on Metformin and various other supplements for 2 years (no ovulation). My egg reserve is extremely high due to PCOS.

I had to go up to 7.5mg before it started working for me, and then after 7 cycles at that level I’m now 6 weeks pregnant 🙂 I didn’t get my period early though, I naturally have very long cycles and it didn’t change that until I got to the 7.5.

Each time they increased the prescription they scanned me to check if it was working and to make sure that my ovaries weren’t going to release multiple eggs, did they not do that for you? My NHS trust seemed to suggest it was a safety thing to avoid having quadruplets etc.

As above, I also had to go onto 7.5mg before ovulation occurred. I took them cd 3-7, hospital started scanning me cd10/11 to make sure they wouldn’t miss the ovulation window if I ovulated before cd14.

are you taken your folic acid and vitamin D?

I was originally on clomid but that didn’t get me to ovulation so I was changed to letrozole. If letrozole doesn’t work after you have upped the dose to 7.5mg then ask to try clomid as one out of the two tends to work.

I was also advised not to use LH testing strips as they aren’t always accurate for people with PCOS.

sending you lots of baby dust Flowers

When I was prescribed it I didn’t ovulated until day 20/21/22 each time. I was convinced i kept missing ovulation but it was just really late.
🤞🏼 for you! X
