Could using an older urine sample affect an early pregnancy test?

Has anyone ever had a false negative test from using an old wee sample? I’m a week late for my period and have taken two tests, one on Thurs and one this morning - both are showing extremely faint lines but for being a week late I’d expect them to be much darker, and also the one this morning hasn’t gotten any darker. I think it could be a chemical, BUT on both days I did a wee first thing to get the most concentrated sample but didn’t actually have a test on me on either day so went and got one a few hours later and then tested. Reading online that this could lead to a breakdown of HCG but wondering if I’m clutching at straws.

Do you have a spare test now? Just do a new test after a 4 hour hold to be sure, as urine needs to be dipped with 30 mins ideally, unless you stored it in a fridge?

I’d buy another test, ideally a digital, and have it ready to use first thing in the next day or so. That will give you a clear answer.
