Just curious for those of you trying to conceive your second, or pregnant with your second, what your journey looked like? How long it took etc.

Caught first time with my first, very lucky I know. That was 4 years ago. On cycle #2 now trying for my second.
Cycle 1 looked as good as it could really. Got my peak on CD13, EWCM looked promising. Obviously didn’t work out that time but no reason to suspect any abnormalities.
Getting a blood test done on cycle day 21 this time to confirm ovulation.

Anyone find doing something different seemed to work for them?
I’ve cut down on caffeine, started the prenatal vitamins etc.

hello,

Exactly the same for me. Conceived my son first try. He is 5 now. This time we are currently in cycle 4. Due AF on Tuesday.
I am starting to worry something is wrong. I did use ovulation tests this cycle and did get a peak so I presume I am ovulating.
what prenatal vitamins are you taking? I need to start.

I’m just taking the pregnacare pre conception vitamins, it’s got the recommended amount of folic acid and a bunch of others! It’s so hard isn’t it cause we waited 4 years to decide are we ready for another and we didn’t really think about how long it would then take thereafter so now I’m kicking myself a bit for not starting sooner and treating it like a sure thing when I’m ready.

I’m in the same boat although 11 months postpartum. Last month I had 3 peaks before eventually ovulating. No peak this month yet CD20, I have only had one period since giving birth as breastfeeding. It was easy for us first time too, we had sex every day and got pregnant. This time we’re DTD every day still but takes more mental load

I also conceived my first on the first try (happy accident!).

Fell pregnant on my second cycle trying for #2, though my first cycle was messed up by stopping breastfeeding (it was only 17 days long). Miscarried at 6.5 weeks.

Now back in the TWW... 🤞

Edit to add I'm now 41 and really worried I'm just too late.

Hello!
i also conceived my daughter very easily on 1st cycle but that was 9 years ago! (Took husband a loong time before being ready for a second!)
When trying for #2 I did fall pregnant on cycle 5 but unfortunately ended in an early miscarriage around 7 weeks. Then took a break of around 3 months and now been trying for 4 cycles. I think I had a chemical in January as had a couple of faint positive tests and some symptoms.
i am also 40 so feel time is not my friend right now 😂
been to the GP recently who was super nice and referred me for some tests

You're only on cycle 2. Even if there's nothing wrong, it can take a while. I think you should try to just think in those terms so that you don't put yourself under undue pressure. You hit lucky first time, but that's not typical!
Good luck 🤞

Hey there are other threads about TTC no.2 and I used to follow 1 of them however I joined after most of them have gotten their BFPs already so I unfollowed it.
This one is new and fresh so I will follow it as everyone is still trying at the moment.
It took me 10 cycles to conceive baby #1 ( I had 2 early MCs while trying) and now I am 1 year postpartum. I have been trying to conceive since the end of Jan and this is the 4th cycle. I feel optimistic because I got my peak as expected yesterday based on LH strips. Tomorrow I expect to have a CBT rise hence I will be at the beginning of a brand new 2WW. Fingers crossed for everyone here.

Hi all is it possible to also join this thread?

TTC baby # 2 also - 35 years old. Was very lucky to catch my first son cycle 1, however feeling very confused after my first time trying for baby # 2 as my period came 2 days earlier than expected and now very unsure if I caught my ovulation date properly. (I use an App and just track CM, never used the sticks or temping, would love any advice anyone has on whether either are useful).

I only weaned off breastfeeding at the end of December when he was 20 months old but have had my period back since he was 8 months old, so unsure if this would still be having an impact?

Thank you so much xx

Bump - anyone? Or perhaps there is a newer thread?

I am 36 years old. The luteal phase of the previous first 3 cycles has been shorter than I expected. Previously I used CBT to track my ovulation date however I wasn’t sure if I actually ovulated. This cycle I started to test LH for reassurance with CBT. Also I stopped breastfeeding after my first postpartum period because BF could lead to a shorter luteal phase. I will let you know if my luteal phase is getting longer if not pregnant this cycle. I am 6/7 dpo so I am expecting AF to arrive this weekend.

I couldn’t get on with tracking BBT but conceived twice using OPKs, DTD the day before and day of ovulation (so the day of and day after my peak).

I don’t think stopping breastfeeding should still be impacting you, when I stopped my next cycle was only 17 days but subsequent cycle was normal (and I conceived, but it didn’t last).

Thanks for your response @HappyBlueDonkey, just lovely to know ther3 are some others out there on a similar journey right now! I'm on CD6 so a little bit behind you, gearing myself up for the "work" in the next fertile window haha.

Thanks both also for your replies re the breastfeeding. I hadn't realised the link with the shortened luteal phase.

HappyBlueDonkey · Yesterday 23:29

i didn’t know about the bf and luteal phase link. I am still breastfeeding but my luteal phase was 15 days before my first period so I’m hoping I’ll be okay

SantiagoSister · Today 00:04

Hi all, joining this thread as will be TTC #2 once AF arrives this month. I too conceived both my children on the first try (I can’t believe we were so lucky), although we unfortunately lost our first son at 29 weeks. I am now 4 years older and worried that it may take a while this time, and I’m wondering if we should’ve started earlier. But I genuinely didn’t feel ready until now! Wishing you all lots of luck 🍀

Goodenoughmummyme · Today 13:01

I'm so sorry for your loss @SantiagoSisterbut lovely to have you here with us. I know exactly what you mean about not feeling ready until now, that resonates so much! My son is only just down to 2 wakes at night now so I feel a bit more humane and less sleep deprived 😴 Wishing you all the best for the next cycle
