Missed period and negative tests while trying to conceive

Hi all, first time posting. My husband and I have been trying to conceive for several months. Last month we didn’t really make as much effort as usual and I wrote the month off! I have now missed my period - last period started 23 March and so it’s now been about 40 days. I’m usually like absolute clockwork and my cycle is 29 days on average. I don’t recall ever missing a period. On no other medication except inhalers, not been on hormonal contraception for years. Nothing else to explain it really - I’ve gained a bit of weight but nothing sudden or extreme and I’m stressed but no more than my usual levels! However I’ve done about 4 pregnancy tests and they are all negative. Two cheap boots ones, one clearblue ultra early and a normal clearblue today. I think I have symptoms like nausea and fatigue but it could honestly be in my head. Has this happened to anyone?

Hi op. Ttc is such a mind-F...

Do you track ovulation? I noted when TTC that I had a couple of months where I didnt ovulate and this triggered a longer time to period. I had been TTC #2 age 33/34 and I noticed a few hormonal changes around this time (i never did concieve #2)

hey 👋🏻 I’m normally quite regular but when I fail to ovulate my body will try again and my cycles have been knows to last as long as 49 days might be worth talking to your GP if AF dont arrive within a week of two x good luck! X

Hey! Thanks! So I have been testing for ovulation but I wasn’t super diligent with the testing. On the days I did test, I didn’t get any positive results but then I wondered if maybe I just failed to test on the days I did get my surge? I had some tests done at a fertility clinic in early March just to check everything was ok, and the doctor did a pelvic ultrasound and said she could see the follicles doing their thing and that I was going to ovulate from the left side. I’m not sure if that means I would have ovulated or if something still could have happened after that to stop ovulation? No idea! It’s so confusing!

And yeah I’ve got a GP appt next week and I’ve contacted the fertility clinic we had the tests with to see if there’s anything they can do sooner. It’s really messing with me because I am literally so regular usually!

my cycles got more random when we started TTC, I do wonder if it was paying attention to them / the worry! You're not taking Pregnacare are you? That also messed up my cycles. Possibly you did ovulate on the days you didn't test, I always got a very quick surge so could easily miss it if I didn't test twice a day. It is common to take a year even where there's no issues so try not to worry too much, although that's easier said than done.

Yeah, I wonder if all the stress of thinking about it has somehow upset my cycles 🙁
I’ve tracked them for a few years (since 2022) because I’ve not been on hormonal contraception and they’ve been like clockwork but who knows now… and yeah, trying to be positive as we are both 33, first time trying, both healthy! But it’s so so hard to stay positive sometimes but then also not to get excited when something like this happens. But the negative tests are pretty confusing and not a good sign!
