Faint lines on One Step tests during IVF wait

I could do with some advice because I am new to all this.
Short back story is we have been TTC for just over 3 years. I am now 42 and we've been going through IVF and I'm currently on my last embryo so all my hopes are pinned on this working.
I shouldn't test early but I have and I'm seeing really faint lines but not getting any darker. I am using the One Step strips.
My question is, how do people rate these tests? Are these just false positives or could it stay the same colour for a while and then get darker? I've never had a positive before so this is the most I have seen my entire life!
I've ordered a First Response Early test which is arriving tomorrow but I'm currently in a position of not knowing what to think!

Sorry haven't used these tests in particular but HCG doubles every 48-72 hours so I'd only expect tests to get darker over that time. It's also so dependent on how concentrated your urine is so isn't that great an indicator.

It does look to me like it's got darker from 5 to 7 dpo, then I'd hope it to be darker again by 10dp. This is definitely a positive though so congratulations! Assume your clinic will do blood tests which will be a lot more definitive? Might be beneficial to step away from the tests if so as they might just create anxiety. You're pregnant until told otherwise.

I used the same test after IVF 5 day transfer.
first positive not til day 8 it was fainter than all of yours!!

then
day 10-negative on one step
day 11-positive on different test plastic midstream from b and m xx

Just to confirm, these are 7dp5dt, rather than 7dpo (I don't know if that's the same thing though?
I assume there will be blood tests but I've never made it that far to know 🙈
Monday I do the first test the NHS gave me so not much longer to wait ☺️

Was it actually a positive in the end? 🤞🏽

Yes sorry didn’t make that clear.
dunno how I had that random negative one ahah.

Im now 27 weeks and all is well!

I think people add the 2 numbers so my first positive on day 8 was the equivalent of 13dpo.
I don’t know if mine was a late bloomer or whether the one step tests just give faint lines

I did my first test at day 6 (6dp5dt), also on one step and it was whiter than white 🤣

DinoDances · 01/05/2026 08:23

Yer sorry I was just saying dpo by accident.

I think 5dp5dt would be the equivalent of 10dpo which is the earliest you could see a positive without IVF. So a faint line is really good for this time. A missed period would be the equivalent of 9 or 10dp5dt which will be why your clinic is probably getting you to test then.
