Has anyone successfully fallen pregnant with ulcerative colitis and specifically when you were in a flare? I have proctitis colitis.
I’ve been told that being in an active flare causes miscarriages and also problems during pregnancy. I’m 8dpo today and just worry that almost like what’s the point in ttc. I don’t feel hopeful for this month but also been in a flare since Feb 2025. I just want to hear some positive stories please 🙂

I've been pregnant twice whilst taking medication for colitis. I wasn't in a flare when I got pregnant. Though I did have symptoms when I was about 12 weeks.

That's a long time to be ill, I was in a flare for about 2 years and the thing that stopped it was giving up gluten, it has been life changing for me.

Good luck

That’s good to know. I did read when you’re in “remission” from colitis, fertility and pregnancy is as good as a healthy woman.
I’m not unwell with this flare, I just have the bleeding sometimes, mucus and urgency every so often.
I am gluten free anyway as I have a gluten intolerance but I can imagine giving it up felt amazing.
Hopefully I’ll get into remission and can hopefully have a healthy pregnancy as I had a chemical in November x

Hi ive got colitis and it hasn't affected me getting pregnant. Ive gotten pregnant very easily .
While i have had several mcs, I dont think they are related as I also have pcos , diabetic and ama which are a factors
Im currently 10 weeks and did go through quite a bad flare up this pregnancy and was naturally worried the stress and inflammation as I felt like I could barely walk like I felt injured . I had bad diarrhoea and cramping and ive had several spells since where ive spent so long on the loo feeling like im not emptying myself properly and would end up feeling sore but I had a scan yesterday and all was well with baby

Oh that’s really positive to hear and congratulations @VioIetMoon
I was told at my last scope a couple of months ago that if I’m in a flare when/if I conceive, it’s really bad but also active UC leads to miscarriages and problems so I’m quite anxious. But your story gives me hope x
