Should we try now or wait?

Need someone to talk reason into me before I lose my mind.

History me and DH are wanting to try for our second child. We have 1 son who is 5. We tried about 18 months ago and had 2 miscarriages. Since then we paused and I have lost 5 stone so hoping I'm now in a healthy position.

My dilemma is that I started a new job in December and I will only qualify for their occupation maternity pay after so long. I have done the math and if I fall pregnant before June then I wouldn't qualify. The occupational pay is 55% of pay + SMP for 12 weeks.

I'm desperate to try starting now, but my DH says we should wait until we qualify for the enhanced pay.

We're both 30. I worry about the age gap, it's only getting bigger and is bigger than what I wanted. Also no guarantee we would conceive and it be successful right away, although each time we have tried we have lucky fell pregnant right away.

Logically is is only waiting another 2 months but then just seems too long to me.

Thoughts?

As someone whose age gap was larger than I wanted and miscarriages. I would say wait the two months. Start taking all your multivitamins and work out the date you can ttc. Having a deadline and date can help.

I wouldn’t about an age gap, there’s gunna be 10 year gap with mine and I’m 38 this year x
