TTC - MRI With contrast

I am panicking as I am ovulating on Saturday but due to have an MRI with contrast on Monday.
I know you’re not supposed to have contrast when pregnant so I’m panicking as I won’t be pregnant but egg could be potential fertilised and travelling around my body and worried this dye is a risk.
I had a second trimester loss in January and only just started to TTC and this MRI has just been booked today so it’s awful timing as only just started TTC again.
Any advise or experience would great thank you in advance x

I have also suffered a late loss too, so I understand your worry. Personally, I wouldn’t have the contrast. You can decline it at your MRI appointment and still have your MRI, the images just won’t be as enhanced as they have been if you had the contrast injected. It’s your choice, and I’m not a medical professional but I couldn’t suffer the worry that would come along with it if you were to fall pregnant this cycle. The other option would be to reschedule the MRI, just in case you didn’t fall pregnant this cycle and you could then have the contrast.

Thank you @SantiagoSister … I did already have the MRI without contrast in October 2025. I was supposed to have the contrast then but found myself in the same situation trying to conceive so I said to do without contrast and then I did actually fall pregnant later that week.
The consultant said he would see the results much better with contrast and wanted to repeat the scan with contrast after my pregnancy.
I then lost my baby end of January this year at 20 weeks and I’ve been waiting for them to rearrange scan and was hoping it would be while I was still on my period 🤦🏽‍♀️
But they called today and booked for Monday 🤦🏽‍♀️
I’m so stressed and worried as time is not on my side for TTC as I’m 40 next month 😩
But then I’m thinking my health is important and maybe I should stop TTC from today as I approach ovulation for this cycle 😭
it’s so confusing and causing me a lot of anxiety that they couldn’t arrange it sooner as my loss back was in January:((

If your consultant needs better images then you need to have the contrast and get them. If it's going to drive you nuts wondering then you need to skip this month.

Thank you @Pugglywugglythats really helped as I know he requested them for a reason and I should probably get them done for peace of mind 🙏🏽
We will refrain from TTC rest of week and just go ahead with MRI.
Luckily only dtd Tuesday and ovulation would be Saturday so it was still in early ovulation window but hopefully too early?!

I'd say there's not much chance of your Tues session being the one. It's possible, but a pretty small chance all things considered. Best of luck with your MRI and I hope you get some answers and get pregnant straight after! X

@PugglywugglyThank you so much for all your great advice 🙏🏽
Although your right there is a very small chance of pregnancy - To save anxiety I just rebooked the MRI for 2 weeks later where I will be 12dpo and will be sure not pregnant 😰
And have not dtd since tues.
Such a shame they couldn’t have booked it early while I was on my period but I guess it’s worked out this way.
Thank you so much 🙏🏽

After no TTC this cycle I have just had a positive pregnancy test.
Extremely happy but shocked as did not expect that as we did not do anything after the one time before I got the booked appointment which would have been many days before ovulation! Emailed consultants about next steps for now cancelled mri
