Ovulation tests

How reliable are ovulation tests?
I’ve been taking them for a week around ovulation time. To start the line was really faint, it got slightly darker for one test then back light again.
does this mean I haven’t ovulated this cycle?

I never got on with urine opks. Blood tests and U/Sound showed I did actually ovulate, but I never seemed to see a darker line on those tests.

I changed to a reusable saliva type. I bought it abroad but you can buy them online. None of my British friends had ever heard of them, but I found it much easier to read. It looks like a tiny microscope and looks at the changing patterns of dried saliva.
