Withdrawal bleed from coil removal

I was looking to find out what others experiences are after having the mirena coil removed? I had mine removed this week & have found bleeding getting really heavy (which for some reason I didn’t expect). I know it’s probably quite normal but just looking for some reassurance hopefully!

Stopping any sort of birth control especially if its something you have had or taken for a long period of time can cause excessive bleeding, irregular bleeding for up to 12months and irregular ovulation. Though most of the time within the first 3 months things settle down. Though for the meantime, if you are filling a pad within an 1 hr, then no that is not normal and please get seen too.

I had this after coil removal. It was shocking, I wasn’t at home and completely unprepared for it to be so heavy. It only lasted about four days IIRC, I got pg the next month.

I had coil removed start of March. Had fairly heavy bleeding about 4 days after removal which lasted 3 days, then what felt more like a proper period two weeks later.

Hoping I'll settle into a normal cycle now but too early to tell!
