Low sperm motility

Hello everyone. My partner and I have been trying to conceive for a year and a half.
After having a sperm analysis test, we've found out that he has low sperm motility.

He's in his early 40's and eats a mostly healthy diet, and exercises, although he does have around 3/4 stone to lose to get to his ideal body weight.
The doctor has of course recommended weight loss, healthy eating etc, so we have joined the gym for both of our benefit. He will often do intermittent fasting.

Can anyone recommend anything that really helped their partner increase their sperm motility? Or is it really just weight loss?

Thank you in advance for any help

The biggest and best thing you can do is eat well, exercise and maintain a healthy weight. Also not smoking & reducing alcohol consumption.

I second @Jellybunny56 good diet, limit alcohol , no smoking and also there are supplements he can take to help.

Thank you. Have you found that it's something that can definitely be improved?

I think it helps a little bit, last year we had a failed fertilisation but but it was due to both not enough mature eggs and low sperm count we used icsi. Then after supplemets for 3 month and some change in diet we ended up with 2 embryos on day 5 but unfortunately one embryos didnt stick and the other was a miscarriage at 7 weeks. We are in the middle of another round now so il let you know how sperm quality is after we both have been on supplemets for 3 months

My DH also had this and I had PCOS so it took us a long time to conceive. We did sensible things like looser underwear, avoid hot baths etc.

Avoid tight underwear for him. They need to be kept cool. Also zinc supplements might help with the motility x good luck x
