Second miscarriage

I had a mmc at 9 week in November which I opted for medical intervention & at the time, a ovarian dermoid cyst was found - I was referred to check that it didnt grow over 3/6 months but advised that it would not have caused the MC. I am still waiting for the referral appointment.

I discovered I was pregnant again on the 17th Feb which was a week before my period would have been due and the lines were faint for around a week. They then started getting darker and I went from 1-2 to 2-3 on clearblue. I started spotted on Saturday which led to bleeding Monday and this taper off Tuesday morning. I rang EPU and they said I could either go in or monitor at home, which I decided to do as it wasnt a nice experience in November. The bleeding has just about stopped and my test was a lot fainter again this morning.

Everything I have read said that the cyst wouldn't cause any issues unless it gets so large. They were not worried about the size back in November. I was just wondering if :

  1. anyone has any experience with pregnancy and a ovarian dermoid cyst;
  2. advice for TTC after two miscarriages.

Feeling very delicate

I have no information on the cyst side of things but wanted to say im very sorry for your losses and that is so hard to come through especially a second time so soon after the first one. There are tests and stuff you and your husband can do to check egg reserve, sperm quality, testing progesterone. You can also take some supplements both of you. For a man it takes 3 months to generate new sperm so would have to be on the supplements for a good 3 month or longer to show effects. But a miscarriage in most cases is usually due to chromosomal abnormalities. Sometimes also poor sperm reaches a healthy egg and implants but doesnt have the capabilities to continue and one other thing is if progesterone doesnt stay high enough to carry an embryo until the placenta takes over, this can also cause loss or chemical pregnancies. Lots of woman have said after a chemical pregnancy they have fallen pregnant right after with a viable pregnancy. I hope this this is the case for you.

@wonderlust07 I am very sorry to read about your losses. You have every right to feel delicate. Loss at any stage of pregnancy is devastating as our minds immediately start planning from the first positive test. I had my first loss in February 2025, followed by a chemical the month after. I was in a very low mental space so, for me, the right decision at that time was to take a month off ttc. That was difficult too because I also wanted to get pregnant straight away, but it really helped. My periods were heavy and painful in the months following those losses. I think I needed time to heal, physically and mentally. I then caught again in July 2025 and am almost 34 weeks now. You might want to reflect if you would benefit from a month off too, to give yourself time to feel better xx

Cant comment on the cyst side of things but could you get your bloods done? That way they could monitor if your hcg is rising .
Sending you all my love. Its a horrible situation to be in. I had a mmc in September then got my cycles back December, fell pregnant again in December and January, both of which ended in a loss and ive just found out im pregnant again this month and im dreading the thought of another loss. Not sure i could handle it four cycles in a row.

I am so so sorry to hear that. I really hope it sticks this month.

I did ring EPU back after I spoke to the community midwife as she said I need to be on their system to receive help if I have another mc. They weren't too helpful and as my tests had faded by then they said just test again in 2 weeks and contact us again if still positive.
