Ovulation stick doesn’t match follicular scan

First time poster! I’ve been trying to conceive my second for almost 2 years now, finally got some help via the nhs and I’m on my first month of letrozole and getting weekly scans. The day of my last scan (day 12) I had a flashing smiley face ovulation test, suggesting I was most fertile. But the scan itself showed the follicle wasn’t quite ready. I’ve tested again today (day 15) and it’s showing not fertile. This is all a bit confusing and I’m not sure when to do the deed, I did yesterday on day 14 (has cervical mucus on this day) and hoping when I’m scanned again tomorrow the scan will show I’ve just ovulated or about to. Just a bit surprised at the inaccuracy of the test! Has anyone else had this? Presume scan overrides test!

Flashing smiley is not peak - solid smiley is peak and then ovulation usually occurs within 48 hours I believe. Sounds like you missed your peak but day 14 could have been good (and if you had had sex in the 3 days prior).

ah yes just re read instructions of the clear blue advanced tests, flashing is ‘high fertility’ not peak. But either way I find it strange as the scan then showed the follicle wasn’t ready and the nurse said I should wait a day or so to even start trying, as ovulation wasn’t happening immediately. Presumably in this situation you go by the scan as she’s a professional telling me my follicle isn’t big enough to ovulate?

I had 5 days of flashing smileys before I got my peak, the advanced tests tend to do that. Did the flashing smiley go back to a circle? I would definitely go with scan over ovulation strips.

I’ve had up to a whole week of flashing smileys before it turns solid so I wouldn’t worry. Flashing for a few days is perfectly normal for a lot of people.
