Hi, was looking for advice from anyone in/has been in a similar situation.
Trying to conceive around 8 months. Got my period as normal this month but then continues to bleed for several days longer than normal. Seen my gp who suggested early miscarriage. I then took a pregnancy test which was faintly positive and have continued to bleed for another 4 days. I am now 2 weeks after my period and still bleeding and still faint positive tests. How long does it take for everything to be done. I thought with this amount of bleeding and this length of time it would be done but just seems to drag on. How long did anybody with a chemical pregnancy bleed for ? Would I be ovulating now since its over 2 weeks from starting s period or would the hcg level stop that from happening ?

Hi,

I’m so sorry to hear what you’re going through ❤️

I’ve been through two chemical pregnancies. For both I bled from about 8-9DPO until I fully miscarried at around 5 weeks. It would die down for a few days, where it ranged from mild spotting to moderate bleeding until I had a heavy bleed and fully miscarried (it was obvious to me when it had all happened). The lines on my pregnancy tests always stayed light but didn’t fade until after I miscarried (usually a few days after everything passed).

I don’t want to scare you, but if the bleeding doesn’t stop, and your tests remain positive (but don’t get any darker), push for your GP to refer you for a scan at your local early pregnancy unit (or self refer if that’s an option) as this may also be an ectopic pregnancy (I’ve had one of those as well). I bled pretty much throughout until I went in for a scan at 7 weeks. I had no pain, but unfortunately the pregnancy was too big to save my tube and I had to have it removed.

Hope it all works out for you ❤️

Thank you so much for your response although also sorry for everything you have been through. Sounds like you have had a rough time.
That's good to know. It seems like every morning moderate bleeding which lightens through the day and then next day the same and so on. I am now 6-7 weeks from last period (not counting what I thought was my period 2 weeks ago) . Although scary it's good to know it is obvious when it is over. I just feel in this weird limbo and want to ttc quickly after this but no idea if I should just start using opks just now or just wait until all the bleeding is done whenever that might be

Just wanted to say thanks again for this supportive message. This was an ectopic pregnancy and had to have my tube removed. Hoping I will be able to get pregnant again

I’m so sorry to hear this. Ectopic pregnancies are incredibly traumatic, and it can all be a bit difficult to process. For now, take the time to heal and then start again when you feel ready. The removal of a tube shouldn’t stop you getting pregnant in the future so keeping everything crossed it all works out for you ❤️
