TTC - what do I need to know?!

Hi all,

I'm 34 and partner 41. We have been TTC for 6 months now and no joy yet. Appreciate still relatively early days.

Are there things I should be doing / try to help with the conception journey?

I'm already on Folate.

I've got the Flo app so I know roughly when the ovulation date is. I'm going to use ovulation sticks this time round. Do I try these twice a day in the week around the flo app ovulation date?

Is there other stuff we are missing? I am wondering about my temperature etc. Any food nutrition etc? I even saw someone mentioning acupuncture on another TTC thread.

Thank you 🌷

Temping is the only way to accurately pinpoint ovulation. Ovulation sticks combined with temping is a good method. I don’t think period tracking apps are all that great. Simply having sex every other day from day 5-20 of your cycle is also likely to catch the egg.

Make sure your partner is living a healthy lifestyle. Things like hot baths and having laptops on laps can raise the temperature of the testicles enough to act as a contraception. My partner also had to cut out energy drinks. And remember that both sperm and eggs take 90 days to mature, so you need 90 of healthy living to affect the quality of the cells.

Do you track CM (cervical mucus) not a nice discussion I know… but that will give you a good indication of your fertile days. Google it and it explains it all. As previous poster said, the Flo app ovulation prediction dates are often wrong, they suggest my date is 5-6days before my actual ovulation. Good luck!
