Period a week late but negative tests?

My husband and I are TTC for another baby. We’re only on our third cycle of trying. I’m currently a week late, I’ve been testing regularly with my first morning urine and they are all negative. I had one day (about my 3rd day “late”) where I had very light spotting, pinkish and not enough for a pad or tampon, I caught it in a liner but that was it.

I’ve never had a late period before (apart from when I was pregnant with my daughter) and I’m 29. My periods are usually very heavy and I get quite bad cramping, migraines, very emotional, and I’ve had none of that. I phoned my doctor to ask if I should be concerned or if there’s any other test I can do, and they have said it’s nothing to worry about.

I’m just a bit worried if I have had no period, and I’m apparently not pregnant, does that mean I won’t ovulate again for what should have been my next cycle? Like I said I’ve never had a late period before and I’m so baffled by all the negative tests! Just worried now about how this impacts us TTC?

Hey lovely.
Im currently pregnant with my sixth baby.
Each oregnany i have implanted around or a few days after my period is due and not got a positive test until around 10 days after my period has been due.
I never seem to ovulate when my cycle says hence the lateness i think.
Will keep everything crossed for you. TTC can be soul destroying. X

It's possible that you ovulated late this cycle – it can happen for a variety of reasons (environmental, hormonal, stress, etc.) and is considered normal. Unfortunately most doctors won't bother investigating unless you've skipped several full cycles. Personally, as soon as I started TTC #2, my cycles went from 27–29 days to 32–35 days overnight and then remained consistent at the new cycle length, for no apparent rhyme or reason. (Of course, there must have been a reason, but alas, women's reproductive health care is woefully under-researched.)

If you haven't been tracking with ovulation strips, you may find it helpful to start doing so, as that can give you a better indication of when your period should be due and whether it's actually late.

Thank you for your replies! Still no period and I’ve had another negative test today. If I’ve ovulated late surely my period must be due any day? I don’t track ovulation but maybe should start trying!

Just an update I still have no period and no positive test. I’m just wondering how will I know when I’m ovulating next or when my fertile days will be? Are temperature readings reliable?

My Flo app keeps suggesting that I’m pregnant but apparently not!
