BFP? Or False positive FIRST RESPONSE?

19 replies

TTCbaby4 · 23/02/2026 15:55

I took this today at about 2:30pm as I had to run to the toilet and was a bit sick in my mouth 🫠🫣.

First response came up positive immediately, no waiting.

Using same urine (in a testing pot)

  • First response DIGITAL- negative
Clear blue LINE (+) test - negative

I'm likely 8 or 9dpo

.. What are the chances it's false :(

BFP? Or False positive FIRST RESPONSE?

That’s very positive, definitely not false. Congrats!

SKLM · 23/02/2026 16:40

That looks lovely and positive congratulations x

TTCbaby4 · 23/02/2026 16:43

@SKLM @CaffeinatedMum
I was excited but looking online a few people have said they've had a couple of false positives with First response... :( now I'm worried!

I usually go off of digital tests for reassurance but they were negative... I know they need a higher hormone to register though.

I really hope this is my BFP 🥹🤞🏻♥️✨

@TTCbaby4 the first response false positives are usually a faint grey line without any colour. Yours looks pink and dark. I had a first response false positive last cycle and it looked totally different to yours. Have you tried any different tests? If you want it in words, clear blue do an early testing digital x

TTCbaby4 · 23/02/2026 16:50

@SKLM I took several.

I used a first response digital and it said No.

And a clear blue digital and it said not pregnant.

But, I think I'm only about 9dpo so, I'm torn between it being roo low to register sensitivity on other devices.. or, that it's a false positive. :(

@TTCbaby4 ah bless you it's such a frustrating time! You could try giving yourself a few days and testing again? x

Unfortunately it was a false positive. I've tested with many tests since and all negative.

Really?? From a FR?? Oh my goodness im so sorry. Has AF arrived? I know the blue dye tests are inaccurate but wouldnt have thought it from a first response. Hope you are ok x

SKLM · 26/02/2026 12:29

Oh dear i'm so sorry to hear that. It might have been a chemical pregnancy, a very early loss, as your tests did look very positive. I hope you are okay and being kind to yourself x

That wouldn’t really explain why the other tests using the same urine were negative though. I guess she’ll never know unfortunately.

BFP!

I always found pink tests gave an accurate positive result earlier than blue ones. No idea why.

SKLM · 26/02/2026 15:44

@Yetegs first response has the lowest sensitivity so it would pick up a pregnancy earlier. Even the clear blue ultra early digital needs more hormone. I had a chemical the other month and the same thing happened to me, very frustrating. Hope the OP is okay

Unfortunately I've tested multiple times daily since, even with more FRER and all negative now. AF hasn't started but I have very irregular periods so, I may not even have one this month. Very sad as I was really hopeful. x

Yes I'm thinking it was a chemical because I could have sworn I had symptoms. They've stopped though and I've been left with a very weird feeling in lower abdomen, obviously all negative tests since so, it's a shame. Sorry about your chemical too x

Unfortunately not, well, not a sustainable one anyway x

I would have been hopeful too as that seems very positive, so your feelings are completely valid. Maybe it was a chemical. Praying for next cycle x
