BBT charting - beginner!

Hi ladies!

I’ve been tracking my bbt for the first time this month.
My cycles just haven’t settled into their normal pattern after my mmc last year. I’m having some fertility testing done through my gp but I just wanted to get as much of my own info as possible. My main concern was that I haven’t been ovulating. I think this chart looks like I have, but this is my first time so I really don’t have a clue! 🙈
my second concern is that if I AM ovulating then it’s happening too early.

Any help from some experienced tempers would really be appreciated 🥰

I will try and attach my chart for this month so far…

@Ottie12Hi 💕 how long are your cycles usually? As if they are on the shorter side, day 10 can be within normal range. I would say your chart does indicate you have ovulated on day 10/11 as your temps go above your baseline after that point.

Your ovulation may move about slightly each month, so I advise to keep temping each month to get a bit more data and notice any trends. I believe it’s more important that you luteal phase is long enough in comparison to your follicular phase length, as during your luteal it’s your uterine lining that needs to buildup to support a pregnancy 😊 hope that helps x

Thank you so much for replying @Blondepeach 🥰 so my cycles have been all over the place really after a mmc last April. Shortest being 18 days, longest was 49 (I believe I had a chemical that cycle as I had a couple of days of vvvvfl’s) I’d been having 21 day cycles before Christmas but last months was 30.
This cycle I got my darkest OPK on cd10, so ovulating cd10/11 definitely makes sense.
should I continue to temp until AF? Sorry if that’s a silly question.

I’m really hoping for a 13/14 day luteal phase, but I just don’t seem to know my body at this point!

thank you so much for your help, I appreciate it so much. 🩷Nobody knows I’m ttc so I’m either going through old threads on here or talking to my good friend ChatGPT! 🤣

@Ottie12 Sorry about your mmc 😔 sounds like it’s really sent your cycles a bit out of whack, plus the suspected chemical. Had you been trying long before April?

So I continued with BBT after AF for a couple of months just so I had like a full months data, then after that I would test from around cycle day 9/10 (as I never ovulate before day 14, occasionally as late as day 20) until AF arrives - I found the temp taking at the same time every day a bit annoying but eventually got used to it 😂 it taught me so much about my cycles and a lot of the time my Flo app was veryyyy off with my fertile window.

Do you track or notice your cervical mucus? For me I always get EWCM the day I get my positive ovulation test, I think for others it can appear many days before ovulation too.

Haha yep chat GPT has all of my screenshots of every months charts 😂 it does get slightly obsessive

Thank you 🩷 it really has, they’ve been so hard to track, that’s why I thought I’d try tracking bbt, which I’d attempted before but would keep forgetting to do. This time I’ve been on it! And I’m so glad I’ve stuck to it!
We hadn’t been trying long at all, I had been on an estrogen blocker for a few years and couldn’t ttc, but I’d been given the ok to have a break for while before going back on them. So falling pregnant so quickly was amazing, and i know i was so lucky for that to happen, it just didn’t go the way we’d hoped.

Ah ok, so maybe I will continue temping through this cycle and the next 1 or 2 just to get an idea of what my norm is.
🤣 it is a little annoying isn’t it! I’ve been dreaming about my bbt too! All this tracking consumes you!
im glad it’s not just me with the Flo app! It’s not the best.

I only notice a very small amount of EWCM 1 - 2 days before the lh peak, so very similar to you. I think the fact it’s quite sparse is what was making me think maybe I wasn’t ovulating.

🤣 it really does! And that’s exactly what I was doing this morning! 🙈

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply. It’s so kind of you xx and I apologise for rambling on!

@Ottie12 OMG the bbt dreams, I had those too 😂 so stressful haha

I have very limited EWCM too, literally one day/one wipe but it seems to be so accurate. I actually am very pleased to say I got pregnant last month and had an early scan yesterday at 6 weeks, my EWCM was the day before I ovulated.

Wishing you loads of luck and here if you need a ttc chat! I’ve found these forums to be a life line 💕

Ottie12 · 20/02/2026 10:50

🤣 so stressful! I had another last night!

That’s what mine is like too, if I wasn’t looking for it I wouldn’t notice it. I think I just expect to see it for a couple of days, and plenty of it!

oh my gosh!! Congratulations! 🩷 that is such lovely news! I hope you’re feeling Ok and symptoms aren’t too bad atm.
wishing you a very happy and healthy pregnancy 🩷

thank you so much, you’ve been so lovely. BBT has jumped up a little this morning so that’s good, hopefully it means I will have a nice luteal phase and progesterone is doing its thing. And if it’s not my cycle this time at least I have some info to compare next cycle to 🥰

@Ottie12 I started to worry about EWCM as I think some people get loads, I also felt like I used to get more when I was super young so got paranoid I was entering the perimenopause 😂 (I’m 30)

Thank you so much 💕 my past ectopic was exactly a year ago and I had convinced myself it was another one, so feeling over the moon that it’s tucked away where it should be.

no worries at all - keep me updated on your journey!

I charted for years (tta as well as ttc). Your chart looks fine and yes, definitely like you ovulated on day 10. That's on the early side but plenty of women ovulate a bit early and conceive without a problem. On the temping, I'd agree it's worth temping a few full cycles to start with, especially as your cycles have been quite varying lengths. That will give you a sense of how yours usually look. Continuing to take your temp after ovulation is confirmed will sometimes pick up what's called a 'triphasic' chart where your temp jumps up again after implantation. This can be an encouraging sign, obviously, but it's much less reliable than the basic biphasic shift some women often have a triphasic pattern even if they're not pregnant and in my experience when I was pregnant the temp did go up again, but often only around the time you get a positive test anyway. I think the most useful thing about temping if you're ttc is that you will know whether you have ovulated or not until you see the three higher temps above the preceding 6 you know to keep trying just in case.
