Hi everyone,
After going to my GP yesterday and getting no answers, i wanted to reach out to see if anyone can help or has had a similar situation.

I am 43 with a 2 year old. After losing my younger sibling to cancer, I decided last year to try to give my little one a sibling, which I knew would be easier said than done at my age! :) I fell pregnant without trying for my DD, having been off contraception for a year and having sex when we wanted. I have always had regular cycles every 26-28 days with bleeding for 3 days. This time round, I have been tracking ovulation and started Pregnacare Conception supplements, which resulted in a pregnancy in September which i went on miscarry at 7 weeks. My ovulation has been like clockwork using CB digital tests - flashing smiley face day 10-13 with a solid face showing LH Surge on day 14. I started looking for other supplements that could help and came across Ova Plus which contains Myo Inositol, which i started on 27th December. My first period after starting it on 16th January, so the usual 26 days, was very different in that the bleeding was lighter and longer for 5-7 days. I started ovulation tracking again that cycle, expecting the usual LH surge on day 14 but it did not arrive - only flashing smiley signalling estrogen. I tested once a day in the morning so could have missed the surge but have never missed it in the morning before. Between that and the strange period, that prompted me to investigate possible negative side effects of Myo Inositol and i was horrified with some reviews and forums saying it ruined a perfectly good cycle, so i stopped immediately after taking it for 34 days. I did have sex in the fertile window albeit i did not see an LH surge and now my period is 4 days late but with a negative pregnancy test every day. I am becoming obsessed and worried that i have ruined my already slim chances of conceiving and that this supplement has sent me into early peri-menopause or given me PCOS. Can anyone provide any comfort or reassurance that either I may be pregnant or that my period will come back? Has anyone encountered the no LH surge testing once a day but simply missed it and has anyone had a negative pregnancy test after a missed period but gone on to have a positive later? Any help would be so very much appreciated as I am grasping at straws for help. xxxx

I have PCOS and take myo inositol at the doctor’s recommendation. I’m no a doctor myself but I can’t honestly see how you could have given yourself PCOS (a lifelong metabolic disorder) by taking a fairly innocuous supplement. I don’t think there’s any reason for you to be taking it given you don’t have PCOS. But in terms of the other stuff. There’s so much anxiety online I would just tune it out!

Thank you so so much for your advice. It’s all so mind boggling and the forums sometimes feel overwhelming. Thank you for sharing your situation, I hope you are doing well xx

Hello. Just to say I took my OvaPlus for about two months (stopped when got pregnant), with no impact on cycle. Obvs everyone's body will react differently, but hopefully just a weird one off cycle!

Stop taking it and your cycles will regulate.

I believe ova was made for women with pcos, hence the added myo inositol. If you dont have pcos, its not beneficial in high doses as you dont have insulin resistance and it can actually affect your cycles if you dont have pcos. Theyll settle down again

You cannot give yourself peri-menopause or PCOS with a supplement. If you test cycle day 3 hormones your FSH level will give you a sense of the former.
