Contraception straight after birth

I had my baby in May 2024 and was put on the pill the day after she was born. I felt very under pressure from the doctor so took it daily then a couple of months later chose to get the depo injection. I feel I should’ve waited a little bit before going back on anything. I’ve not had a period since before being pregnant.

We are wanting to start trying again soon for baby number 2 so I’m not getting my next depo injection.

Can anyone who was in the same situation after birth let me know if/how quickly they conceived after coming off of contraception? I’m really worried my body never got the chance to go back to normal after birth and that trying will become really difficult.

You would normally start hormonal contraception 21 days after birth. Fertility can take a while to return after the depo; sometimes up to 1 year, so dont get disheartened if you dont get your normal cycle back quickly
