TTC POSTPARTUM- NEED ADVICE

Hi ladies. TTC PP- first period hasn’t arrived yet but I randomly did some OPKS as I had EWCM & got a solid smiley. Me & hubs DTD 25/1 & it’s now 12/2 and no period or positive test! No symptoms of period either!! Can breastfeeding cause LH surge with no ovulation?! I was sure I ovulated as I had so many signs! But 18 days post sex I would assume a test would be positive by now!!

Have attached a test today- I thought a faint positive but everyone I’ve shown says no, also at around 15/16 DPO it would be much more clear I’m sure!! Wondering if maybe I just didn’t ovulate! Is that common?!

I'm not sure. How many months PP are you, and how often are you BF? You may experience LH surges but does not mean an egg is being released, especially if your periods haven't returned yet.

Thanks so much for the reply. I’m 11 months PP & breastfeeding two times a day & once at night!! I didn’t realise you could LH surge and not release an egg! Would explain the lack of period or test!! I guess it’s a waiting game xxxx

A positive LH test never guarantees you have ovulated, whether you are breastfeeding or not. You can have an LH peak without ovulation following it.
If you want to be certain you need BBT. But if you can't be bothered with the faff just have sex whenever you spot ewcm. Be warned though that I had patches of convincing ewcm for months before my periods returned when BF.

Thank you! It’s so hard to know when to start BBT as I’m not having periods- also would night wake ups cause it to be inaccurate? My daughter in the night to feed around 4am xx

It's different for everyone I think. I find that I need about 3 hours of sleep for my bbt to fall, so a 4am wake-up would be okay for me if I didn't wake again until after 7am. But other people find they need more than that.

Essentially though, what you're looking for is a change, so even if your 4am wakeup does disrupt your bbt, it should disrupt it by the same amount each night in theory! So you might still see a jump in temperature post ovulation when it happens. But you might not.
