Feeling really confused with ovulation sticks

At the start of ttc journey and I got the clearblue app and some ovulation stripe from boots. I started testing when the app told me to which was day 15 and didn't catch a LH peak (tested for 10 days). I've been reading around about all these fancy tests which say i need to check other hormones but they seem to be so much more expensive, so my questions are.

  1. Are the boots LH strips good enough or do I need to know other hormones?
  2. How early should I start testing, my periods are 7-8 days?
  3. Is there a chance I didn't ovulate? I have never missed a period but my cycle can vary by up to 8 days?

I am 35 with AMH of 26 pmol/L if that matters.

Are you sure it said to start testing day 15? That's pretty late since day 14 would be average ovulation in a 28 day cycle.

All the ones I've used said start from day 10ish.

I've used cheap ones from Amazon, Wondfo or easy@home they're called and never had any issues. In my opinion the fancy digital ones, and other hormones etc are unnecessary.

The only thing you could do additionally is bbt tracking (basal body temperature) alongside as I understand the temperature dip, or spike (not sure as I don't do this) confirms ovulation.

Hopefully someone else will be along who knows more about that x

Thankyou. My cycles are 32 days on average but can be very rarely as short as 28 or very rarely as long as 38. Last month was 37. That is reassuring about the tests.

Try easy@home tests they’re so
much cheaper. I always tested from about day 10 onwards; used to have 32/33 day cycle. I think you started testing too late.
