Possible Pregnancy / Anxiety Question

Hi,

This is an anxiety related post and I’d be grateful for some words of reassurance / honest thought.

My girlfriend is 43 and I am 45, we don’t want children.

I have always had lots of anxiety around pregnancy and I’m worried again now.

We had unprotected sex on day 18 and 21 of her typically 26 day cycle, we finished with a Condom as we always have.

Between days 18 and 21, her breasts swelled massively and have stayed roughly this way since

Her period came as normal on day 26 and lasted for the normal three days, she tells me it was normal, and definitely not implantation bleeding, she said clotty as normal.

My gf knows I worry so did a Clearblue early detection test 6 days and 13 days after her period stated, so 14 and 20 days post the day 18 sex, both were negative

Given our ages, the fact we finished with condoms, her period arriving and two negative tests, combined with her swollen breasts, could there be any chance she is pregnant?

Please, I’m just looking for support and genuine answers, no sarcasm or ‘birds and bees comments’ etc.

TIA

It sounds very much like she is not pregnant, what with the period and negative tests.

But with all due respect, if you have such anxiety about her getting pregnant why on earth are you having unprotected sex? Perhaps you do need 'the birds and the bees' comments....

I agree with above poster. Dont use unprotected sex at all through out intercourse. Start with a condom not just end with one. Pre ejaculations has can produce enough semem to fertilise an agg. Also if you dont want kids, go get a vasectomy done and then go back for the testing to make sure it was successful. It shouldnt only be on the woman to be worried about birth control. It is all but painless for a man to get a vasectomy and it doesnt wreak havoc on your hormones.

You sound a bit neurotic tbh. She's clearly not pregnant.

If you're so anxious about pregnancy, then wear the condom the whole time. Or get a vasectomy.

Jesus I would hate for my partner to be so up in my business about my menstrual cycle that he took to Mumsnet instead of just listening to me.

You need to be using contraception because you are absolutely nutty. If you don't want kids... stop having unprotected sex!

She's not pregnant.. now get away from her until you are protected.

Thanks for the answers.

i know this is my anxiety causing my worry, it comes out in different ways and always has done.

I have booked a Doctor’s appointment to try and get some help with this, be it therapy or meds.

Thank you.
