IVF success rates

Can anyone tell me what the realistic success rates are for having IVF at 38 (will be nearly 39 by time treatment starts), have endometriosis and last couple of blood tests show I don't ovulate.

Just seem to keep reading hugely different success rates everywhere.

Obviously I'm not pinning too much on a particular quoted success rate but would just like some idea of roughly what they were

I'm interested in this because they think the reason for my infertility was endometriosis.

Check if your clinic does blastocysts and ask their advice on this. If you can get to blastocyst (embryos of 5 days as opposed to 3) the sucess rates are much higher (1 in 2 for my clinic or aprox 49% for people your age.) These seem to be replicated across the country.

There are however, differences between centres. This is often due to the clients they are prepared to take. As I understand it some centres won't treat women with more complex problems (e.g. hormonal assessments that fall outside certain parameters that are linked with success). These centres may have higher sucess rates because they are treating more straighforward cases.

Success rates vary between clinics and each one should be able to provide details. If you are going private, It might be an idea to go along and check out each clinic so you can get a feel for the place. Some of the clinics hold open evenings. If you are going NHS you may also have a choice where you go -don't just go on what your GP suggest do your own research. - goodluc
