Could I be pregnant

dimplesanddonuts · 09/01/2026 18:58

I had sex on 27th December which is CD. I have three kids aged 14,7,3 and don’t want another pregnancy or baby. I don’t use contraceptives as they all make me feel funny and cause horrible side effects. After sex I panicked and realised I was CD10 an I used an OPK everyday until I got a positive on the 30th. Which is like three days before. And then I had sex again on the 2nd January CD 16 as I thought it’s too late as ovulation would have occurred. So basically I didn’t take morning after pill. As the side effects make me unwell. I have taken two pregnancy tests and they are negative and I’m 6 days away from period. I do feel sick and sore breasts and increase appetite but I also stopped mounjaro last month temporarily over Christmas. So I thought it
could be that. According to flo app I ovulated CD14 which is 31st December.

"Could I be pregnant? I had sex and I don't use contraception."

Erm - yes

DisappointedD · 09/01/2026 19:01

First post says it all.

Atmywitsend26 · 09/01/2026 19:06

If you have sex without contraception, then yes, obviously you could be pregnant. Tracking ovulation can absolutely help but it's not infallible. I sympathise as I also react badly to hormonal contraception too but ultimately if you don't want to be pregnant you need to use SOME sort of preventative contraception. Condoms exist and are side effect free.

omggggggg · 09/01/2026 19:07

Of course you could be pregnant. You had unprotected sex

The first reply answers your post as well as anyone can.

@dimplesanddonuts My suggestion is your partner gets a vasectomy if you want to avoid pregnancy and your family is complete.

Dunno just panicking and feeling guilty. It took me year an half to fall pregnant with last baby I was 34 when I had her a now in nearly 38 so I was thinking I’ll be fine.

Do you really mean that you thought at 38 you wouldn't get pregnant?
You can get pregnant until you no longer ovulate. It gets less likely, but at 38 in a woman who's had children, you are highly likely still almost as fertile as you ever were @dimplesanddonuts .
Yes you could easily be pregnant. Fingers crossed for you that you're not. Then sort out some reliable contraception, please.

cannynotsay · 09/01/2026 19:38

I’d re take a sex education class if I was you

Yeah didn’t come on here to receive a bashing. Why is this forum so horrible now? I remember when I used to love coming on here. People have really changed lately.

I’ve been on here under various names for thirteen years It’s always been the case that grown women who act surprised that they have had unprotected sex and are pregnant are treated as idiots.

Because it’s idiotic.

MocktailMe · 09/01/2026 21:15

Majority of women on the TTC pages are trying for a baby. It honestly is a bit jarring to then read someone who is just having completely unprotected sex worrying idly they might be having an unwanted pregnancy. You're 38 years old, it is beyond time for you to sort your family planning out.

I understand an accident but this is just wilful lack of precaution.

DinoLil · 09/01/2026 21:27

Yes. Probably pregnant.

Mrsnothingthanks · 09/01/2026 22:45

@dimplesanddonuts But surely you know that unprotected sex at 37 years old can result in pregnancy?
If you are both definitely done re having kids but you don't want to be on hormonal contraceptives (I was the same btw), why doesn't your partner have a vasectomy?

dimplesanddonuts · 09/01/2026 22:46

We have being doing withdrawal method since 2022 and it’s worked but this time he didn’t but I thought I’d be ok

@dimplesanddonuts And as for a vasectomy?

user38 · 09/01/2026 22:50

Mrsnothingthanks · 09/01/2026 22:48

@dimplesanddonuts And as for a vasectomy?

or even a condom?

Mrsnothingthanks · 09/01/2026 22:51

@user38 Indeed. Far less effective than the snip, however.

dimplesanddonuts · 09/01/2026 22:52

user38 · 09/01/2026 22:50

or even a condom?

Yeah we don’t like the feel of condoms. He did mention last month he wants a vasectomy a now this month we was silly and irresponsible.

OP posts:
Mrsnothingthanks · 09/01/2026 22:54

@dimplesanddonuts Has he booked it? It was absolutely the right choice for my husband and I (and he only has one bio child). No regrets here.

Perfect28 · 09/01/2026 22:55

Withdrawal method is not a reliable method. You're a grown adult with three kids, how do you not know this?

ChristmasLeftovers · 10/01/2026 07:13

dimplesanddonuts · 09/01/2026 22:52

Yeah we don’t like the feel of condoms. He did mention last month he wants a vasectomy a now this month we was silly and irresponsible.

I imagine you’ll enjoy an unwanted pregnancy even less than condoms or the side effects from the morning after pill.

gamerchick · 10/01/2026 07:22

Nothing in your post is convincing that you don't want to get pregnant OP. Might be time to be honest with yourself.

If you get lucky then stop having unprotected sex. It's that simple.
