Period 5 days late BFN

5 days late for my period. I’ve never had a late period before, bfn each morning since my period due. I have thought I was coming on on Saturday (today’s Tuesday) but nothing. Aware I’m probably not pregnant but after 2 years + of trying I’m happy to get my hopes raised by any stories of late periods and late BFP’s between now and when I get my period 🥹😅 anyone? I’m bloated but that’s probably just cheese, crackers and cake over Christmas.

Have you tracked your ovulation? You may have ovulated later which will move your period later also.

6 days late here and BFN. I haven’t tested since Sunday though. I had a weird bit of spotting from CD19 for a few days so maybe that was my period 🤷🏻‍♀️ didn’t track this cycle but normal cycle is 28 days, currently CD34 🤦🏻‍♀️

I had this on my first cycle of TTC. I am never late and have a 25-26 day cycle so going to 31 days was incredibly unusual. I had read that if you BBT stays high for 18 DPO then that's a very encouraging sign of pregnancy. I was tracking temps at the time and mine dropped on day 18 then AF made an appearance 😤

It's likely you ovulated late or not at all, which can happen randomly to any woman without it meaning there's a problem.
If you want to avoid being in the dark about ovulation, you could track BBT next month. Other methods (LH strips, tracking cm) do not confirm ovulation has happened, but BBT does.

So I usually do track but Christmas starts early in December visiting friends and family and it’s hard to keep track. Usually I use easy @ home OPK’s. Of course it’s the one month I don’t my period goes missing haha! I have creamy discharge and a feeling of being wet but when I go to the toilet there’s just discharge. I also spontaneously have mini cramps where I think “ok my periods arriving when I next go to the toilet!” But nothing.

Gosh how upsetting for you! I have the thermometer and want to temp but it’s the taking your temperature before you even sit up that hinders me. Does it really have to be that strict? I need to find my glasses when I wake up 😂 x

Thank you! I usually use OPK’s. Temping feels daunting - as I mention above does it need to be taken before you even sit up like the instructions say? I’m usually looking for my glasses (same place I leave them) or needing to pee 🤣😆

I had this and I got a positive test when my period was about a week late. Realistically it could go either way. You may get your period later than normal, or you may get your BFP. What test did you use? First Response Rapid Response was the best at early detection when I was TTC (almost 8 years ago, eek!).

Well if you ovulated at your usual time and have no period or positive pregnancy test, then there's no really no chance it could be a successful pregnancy. You'd have to be extremely unusual.

But if you ovulated late then you could still be pregnant this cycle, if you carried on having sex after the time you thought you ovulated.

This is what I’m hoping for. I’ve read stories of people getting BFP a week late - despite being negative 4,5,6 days after etc. because of a late ovulation. I think it’s just the first glimmer of hope in 2 years, something out of the ordinary that isn’t just a BFN. I remember having ovulation type discharge and cramping around the 28th / 29th of December and being really confused. So perhaps I’m just going to have my period Saturday or Sunday. Which is when my ovulation is predicted for.

I use easy @ home. Did use a FRER on the first day of my missed period.

It’s 8 years since I had my last child I just never had any issues conceiving before.

As if having a delayed period isn’t bad enough on the anxiety … just did an easy @ home (on very diluted wee) before I go to sleep. Silly I know. But now I see this? I think? But then the Amazon reviews show many like this as faulty. Will have to wait for tomorrow and see what it brings! 🥹 pretty sure it’s a dud test or maybe I’m seeing something that isn’t there.

I’ve not done another test. No period still. Waiting for Saturday to test/see if period arrives. I’m 99% sure the test attached is a dud- read the reviews last night and so many negatives that looked like mine.

Just a late and irregular period. I had one at the start of last year.

I didn’t get a BFP with my son until cycle day 42 which was so weird! I hadn’t ovulated late. Just took so long to get the result x

@TokenGinger wow that’s so long to go without a BFP and not have a late ovulation! I’ve done some ovulation strips since yesterday and my LH is raising (currently 0.4 was 0.2 yesterday) so I think I just didn’t ovulate in December maybe and now I’m gearing up for ovulation which should be within the next week.

It was so late! We were convinced that we were not successful that month. Then when we had the scan, and the dates lined up with what I would have been based on the last day of my period, it was bizarre! We possibly had a fault pack of tests, I’m not sure.
