Positive stories of male partners on terbinafine while TTC please

I googled and now wish I hadn't!
Although NHS and a few other sites advise that using the oral antifungal terbinafine doesn't affect (particularly male) fertility, there's some scary reddit posts, a single case study, and I think some mice studies which show DNA fragmentation of sperm.
I'm already late 30s and don't want to wait until my DH's long course of terbinafine is over :(

whats he on it for?

if it’s a fusty toenail he can use the nail varnish. it takes a year but no risk to his or a foetus’s health.

i think there’s a risk of liver issues wirh the oral stuff so he will need a blood test in due course to check all ok. when my gp said that i hit the nail varnish instead. fair enough if it’s not got a toenail issue and it’s something else ps i found that vicks on my toenail worked just as well!!

Thanks for replying @TalulahJP it's for chronic toenail infections (not just one) he has fungal skin issues at times too. He's tried everything and the GP has finally prescribed this, with regular liver function tests.

how about a two week trial?! if you can refrain from trying to conceive for that long si youre not worried about foetal health.

i know it sounds mental but get some vicks and get him to put it on his infected skin twice a day for two weeks. keep taking the oral meds too.

say it’s on both legs, put the vicks on one and then you’ll have a comparison. he can see if any improvement on the treated leg compared to the untreated one. if so it’s the vicks.

if it seems to work it could be reassuring that there is hope for him if not using oral meds and maybe he can come off the oral meds and that’ll sort your conception worries out.

if not at least you tried. it’s just a fortnight. maybe i was just lucky. it's not long. i used tescos own cheap vicks.

i was on the terbeverine cream for 8 months. it was a chronic infection. spread all over my legs at the top creases. two weeks on vicks and it was gone. it was unbelievable. no way it was the terb. cream as it had been too long. it was defo the vicks for me.
