Anyone else TTC on letrozole?

I have taken my first tablet today so not knowing what to expect. I am with the NHS fertility clinic and was prescribed immediately after my hycosy so I was a bit shaky still and not paying 100% attention.

Anyone else going through similar? I feel this 2WW will be a long one and I haven’t even ovulated yet!

Hey! I’m currently on my second cycle of letrozole! Is yours monitored?

For myself I just had cramping and ✨rage✨that was mostly directed at my partner 😂 during my first cycle. This cycle I have a bit of an upset tummy and feeling a bit down. With both cycles I’ve found it shortened my period to 3/4 days

For me I didn’t have a positive ovulation test, even with clear blue and easy at home but luckily it was a monitored cycle so I had a scan to show I had 2 mature follicles + a cd21 progesterone test that confirmed I’d ovulated. Apparently letrozole LH spikes can be strong and short so they can be hard to catch even with multiple tests a day (I was going crazy and testing every time I peed)

I also found my baseline LH was higher, around 0.48 the whole cycle which I’d seen others say they’d had the same

This cycle I’m not tracking ovulation as I found that took a toll on me mentally last cycle, I’m just going to BD every day from cd10 - cd21 like my Dr said and try to say relaxed (easier said than done) xx

Oh no god help my husband! Haha I’m a nightmare with hormones as it is. Glad to hear it’s settled the second month.

It’s a bit weird, this month I just have a blood test at day 21 then next cycle I go for scans and a blood test. 4 day period would be amazing though mine normally drag on for ages!

Did they test your LH or are you able to test yourself?

It’s so hard to not obsess isn’t it. We have been trying for 18 months now and I dread to think how much money I have wasted on ovulation sticks and pregnancy tests. I’ve calmed down a bit but this being new has set me off again.

I am, I’ve had 6 cycles which haven’t resulted in a pregnancy and now I’m going to have a hycosy, so the other way around to you. Not sure if it varies between NHS trusts but mine give 12 cycles and that includes the titration so you might not get 12 cycles that actually work - they started me on 2.5 mg, moved up to 5 and then the last 4 cycles have been on 7.5mg and I’ve only ovulated on those (well definitely on the first one - I don’t test at home). They might have explained to you that the scans are to check if the follicles are developing and that it’s only one egg as they don’t want a too high dose to result in multiple eggs being released.

YMMV but it has made my periods heavier and my PMS much worse - The Rage as well as lots of tears!

I didn’t have my LH tested but I did call my drs secretary when I didn’t have a positive ovulation test for 5 days after my scan worried about not having my LH peak, she told me not to worry and explained that I’d probably just had my peak in my sleep.

They might just want to go easy on you after your hycosy and skip the scan for this month but I’ve heard people become more fertile after having a hycosy and my friend actually fell pregnant naturally after.

I’ve been trying for around 5 1/2 years (2 years wasted being gaslit by my gp) and the urgency comes in waves but I was finally accepted for fertility treatment in November. Whatever you do, don’t waste your money on a mira fertility tracker, it gave me two different results using the same sample xx

Sorry to hear the 6 haven’t been successful hopefully the hycosy will help things along. That’s good that you get 12 cycles, mine has said 6 cycles then IVF if not successful which both feels like ages but also not. I got myself into a right panic about the hycosy but it wasn’t as bad as what the internet says.

I’ve been getting all the signs that I’ve been ovulating (positive sticks then higher resting heart rate) but I’m thinking maybe not. I had over 40 folicles on the scan and my AMH was 65 so definitely not right.

I find the scans fascinating I’m looking forward to finding out if it’s working.

That’s good to know (I will definitely panic if I don’t get one!). I get ovulation pain which is quite reliable but I still test in case it’s indigestion 😂.

Thank you so much for saying that! I actually had it in the basket so I won’t waste the money on it now!

It makes me so mad that women’s healthcare is so different to men’s. We are expected to just suffer in silence or be told our experiences are normal when they very clearly aren’t. Sorry to hear about your bad experience with the GP.

Morning ladies! I’m on my first cycle of letrozole after around 18 months TTC #2. Currently on CD16 and not had a positive OPK yet so your message above about OPKs is reassuring to see {mention:nellie} ! I’ve been going mad testing as I’m trying to work out when to have the blood test. My cycles are normally 27/28 days but last month it was 37 days so not sure what’s going on. I had put it down to taking pregnacare which I’ve heard can lengthen your cycle. All very confusing!

Think I’ll just go for the test on CD21 as normal and see what happens…🙏

Welcome :)

I found pregnacare did that when I took it. I switched to proceive but it’s so bloody expensive. Hopefully it will go back to normal this cycle. Fingers crossed for CD21.

Have you had any side effects? I’ve only taken 3 days worth but haven’t had anything yet, I am convinced it’s not actually doing anything but hope I am wrong!

Don’t worry about not having symptoms yet, I found most of mine started around cd 8 xx

JLP256 · 09/01/2026 08:24

@Chocolatecustardcreamsrule I was pretty bloated but I took them over Christmas so I wasn’t sure if that was all the food haha. I’m now on CD18 still with no positive OPK but I’ve also been tracking my temp and that’s not told me much, so I’m thinking it’s another longer cycle. Hope you’re getting on ok with your cycle!
