I’m thinking about starting TTC baby no. 2 but I’m still breastfeeding my toddler. Looking to hear from people that have done this and successfully conceived. Did you carry on breastfeeding whilst pregnant? What was your experience? Thank you so much in advance xx

I did! I conceived at around 11 months postpartum, whilst still breastfeeding. I think it was only my second or third cycle back.

14 weeks pregnant now and still breastfeeding a few times throughout the day.

I conceived children 2 and 3 while breastfeeding. My periods returned around 10 months post partum with my first two, 6 months post partum with my third.

During pregnancies 2 and 3, I found my milk supply got much lower in the second trimester (which is normal, due to hormones). My little ones took this as their cue to self-wean, but some people do feed all the way through (especially if their babies are younger - mine were 2/2.5). I think I'd stopped feeding completely by about 22 weeks max.
I also found my nipples were very sensitive (again, normal, due to hormones - I get the same feeling during ovulation) and this made me relieved that my children wanted to wean rather than continue (bittersweet, as I/we'd enjoyed breastfeeding).

I conceived my second while breastfeeding the first, who was 18 months.

Unfortunately I had to gave up breastfeeding as it became too painful.

Watching your thread OP as I'm in a similar position! DD is 9 months and we've just started ttc#2. While she's eating 3 solid meals a day, I'm still breastfeeding on demand and multiple times in the night so slightly anxious that may hinders things. If we are successful soon, I'd like to continue breastfeeding at least until DD is 1 (when I'll return to work). Keep us updated with how you get on x

Also in the same boat, going to try conceive #3 in the new year. Still breastfeeding my 16 mth old, and hoping to continue for another month or two.

I'm in two minds about weaning them now, I don't think I'd like to deal with the hormones pregnant & bf - but I also don't want to end this journey or put off another addition to the family.

I have twice. 9 years ago I conceived while breastfeeding my two year old, breastfeed through the pregnancy then tandem fed them both.
Im exclusively breastfeeding my four month old and just found out pregnant. I plan to breastfeed through out the pregnancy x

Conceived 2nd child while still breastfeeding toddler. Carried on and tandem fed for about 18 months. Hardly ever at the same time. I encouraged older one to feed less often and eventually weaned get but youngest one self weaned aged 4yrs

Yes I conceived whilst breastfeeding my 2 year old and continued to tandem feed both when baby was born. A few times during pregnancy my toddler said there was not much milk left, but he continued and now I have no problem feeding both. Good luck!
