Implantation bleeding - is it a thing?

Hi all, looking for a bit of advice if possible as I feel a bit clueless!

We are TTC baby number 2, a few cycles in. My periods are irregular, anywhere from 30-36 day cycles but most commonly somewhere between 32-35 days. I usually track ovulation via cervical mucus and ovulation pain, so know roughly when to DTD.

I am expecting my period any day now, as I am CD 33 but this morning, I wiped after the loo and had some pink blood on the tissue, followed by some brown discharge for a few hours later. There is nothing there now, not even discharge. My boobs are tender around the sides and I've been feeling absolutely knackered the last few days but nothing else seems untoward. How do I know if this is implantation bleeding or not? Is there anything to look out for? I haven't tested yet but assume I should wait a few days in case my period arrives?

Feeling clueless and rather silly for asking but thank you in advance for any wisdom!

Yes it’s a thing- I’ve experienced it 2/3 pregnancies.
however unfortunately there’s no way to know what is what. My pre period spotting is exactly the same as any implantation bleeding I’ve had
it’s a waiting game!

I read years ago that it’s very rare, but modern women seem to experience it frequently. I’m old lol.

Insidemyownhead · 11/12/2025 16:47

I experienced this in my first conception but not my second.

I’ve been pregnant 4 times but never had it

is rare but sometimes it happens !

Bangpennylane · 11/12/2025 17:15

Yes I didn't have any early symptoms at all with my first baby apart from veiny boobs starting at 5 weeks...I don't think I ever have pre period spotting that has completely disappeared, usually it starts off light but then gets heavier. Why does time go so slow when you're TTC. 😂

I had it (with IVF).

GrimDamnFanjo · 11/12/2025 17:30

I had it with my first who was a happy surprise, and assumed it was an unheard of for me light period, so it wasn’t till I started to feel a bit unwell a few weeks later that I did a test just on the off chance…

I’ve had it with every pregnancy so yes it’s a thing. I’ve been pregnant many times. The way I know it’s that is I will have period cramps that feels like I’ve got my period or it’s coming any moment but every time I look at my pad it’s just a tiny brown pale dot. Every time just pale brown barely there. For days. At this point you can usually test positive

Thanks so much everyone. I've had absolutely no blood since this morning, only a bit of milky discharge this evening. I think I'll test tomorrow but really don't want to get my hopes up.

Yes I've got a bit of a dull ache but nothing to show for it!

Hi all, I have just tested and it's a very faint but unmistakable line! I can't believe it!
