Could I be pregnant?

So either on the 18th or 21st I had unprotected sex with my partner (not sure which but i know it was that week).

Around the 4/5th i started craving things I've always hated, to the point where I'm eating them but not even enjoying it. They make me feel sick but I still crave them 🙁. I've also had night time nausea every night since the 4th.

Last night (9th) I wiped after a pee and had pink blood, assumed was my period starting soon. I woke up this morning hoping to have started my period but nothing. The pink has gone and nothing else has started.

I haven't got the money to test, and I don't want to waste a doctors time for them to tell me I'm not and im just crazy.

You can get 3 strip tests for £1 or £1.50 from places like savers or even Asda, you won’t know without a test

TallulahBetty · 10/12/2025 12:02

Yes, of course you could. As to whether you are - no one can tell you. Get a cheap test.

FuzzyWolf · 10/12/2025 12:02

If you can’t afford a pregnancy test how will you afford a baby? Surely you need to find out asap whether you are pregnant or not and ensure you use contraception until you are in a better financial position and want to have a baby.

smallsilvercloud · 10/12/2025 12:06

Just wait a few more days then cheap test, you could be you are about start your period in the next 24hrs if you’ve had pink blood yesterday. I only ever tested after I was definitely late, it saves money and you get a stronger result if you are.

Viviennemary · 10/12/2025 12:08

Of course you could be. If you haven't got the money for a test how are you going going to cope with the expenses of a baby.

bizkittt · 10/12/2025 12:10

Good grief. You had unprotected sex of course you could be pregnant. Scary considering you can’t even afford a test

Justlostmybagel · 10/12/2025 12:10

So why did you have unprotected sex, knowing the risk of pregnancy, when you can't even afford a test? You can get them for about a pound.

OopOop · 10/12/2025 12:11

If you’ve had unprotected sex then yes, you could be pregnant.

MaleficentQueen · 10/12/2025 12:19

You can’t afford a pack of 3 cheap strip tests from Poundland / B&M / Home Bargains, that they sell for £1? They don’t have to be expensive tests for them to indicate whether you’re pregnant or not. Based on your symptoms, and the fact you had unprotected sex, you could well be pregnant. Best to buy some cheapie tests, and find out.

Before you jump to conclusions, I can afford a baby. But for your information my employer is refusing to pay everyone. I start a new job soon.

I can afford it, but for your in my employer is withholding money from everyone in the company. I obviously had no idea I'd not be paid for over 3 weeks before I had sex.

You can't afford a baby, if you don't even have a pound left after not being paid for 3 weeks either.

TallulahBetty · 11/12/2025 15:48

You still cannot afford it if you have NO MONEY left after just 3 weeks of not being paid. Get some FREE contraception and stay on it.

Hi some really unhelpful replies here. Please take no notice. They shouldn’t be commenting on you having unprotected sex as you have not asked for that.

As they have also said though the only way of knowing for certain would be to do a test to find out. It would probably be preferable to do this before going to your GP in case it’s a false alarm. Take care and good luck xx

Well as having unprotected sex is the only way she could have become pregnant and the thread was entitled ‘could I be pregnant?’ I’d say people should be commenting on the fact that she had unprotected sex, in order to answer the question posed in the OP 🤷🏻‍♀️

If you can afford food you don't like.. you can afford a £1 test. If you don't have a way of making it through a month with no pay, you can't afford a baby.

If your partner is happy going around having unprotected sex... ask him for £1!

This is so bizarre

It is COMPLETELY REVEVANT. Unprotected sex = chance of pregnancy. Every single time.

For everyone judging whether OP can afford a baby, she hasn't said she wants one? She said she hoped her period would have started...

I think what we all mean is if she can't afford a £1 strip test she can't afford to be having unprotected sex!

Fair enough, accidents happen though.
