A very stupid question

Has alot of you may be aware due to alot of fretful posts I have done on here, I have been ttc for 9 months without luck.
All of this time my periods have been erratic with 2 3 month absences, and when I have had them my cycles have been anything from 23 up to 62 days.

Now I have still continued ttc even in a long cycle with no period.
My question is is it pointless still ttc within a long cycle.
I am currently on cd 42 atm with no period but I am still actively ttc.
Should really I be waiting for my next cycle whenever that may be before I continue ttc, or should I continue as normal in case I go onto ovulate at any time.
I have no idea of when and if I ovulate although a day 21 test done on this particular cycle indicated I had not ovulated.
Sorry I know its probably a very dumb question and I have probably confused everyone.

hi lostit, i am so sorry to hear about your erratic cycles . giving you a big big hug right now.

my opinion is that you can ovulate at any time, so continue to BD. besides, BDing is not only to make babies, what about your relationship? what about just for fun?

it prob feels like there is no point to BD when you are not sure when you're ovulating, but pls do not forget your partner and your relationship in all this.

another thing- can your doc refer to a clinic to help regulate your cycles?

I am now under the care of a fertility clinic who want me to have the day 21 test which I have had done and it showed that I did not ovulate.
They also want me to have the day 2 test but I haven't been able to as no period currently on cd 42 and nothing.

What happens regarding the day 2 test if no period will they just do it anyway.
I have to wait until the 27th of June to find out whats next.

You know I am finding the sex thing a strain.
My dh thinks he is being used and couldn,t care less if it happens or not, but me I am like a demented loon.

dont think they will do dy2 test if your period has not arrived. cos the test will be pointless

i can imagine sex must be difficult for you. i can totally understand your obsession. i would be too and so would all other women ttc.

without sounding like an annoying cliche, you must try to relax. there is no other way to say it, i'm sorry i am not preaching here.

being stressed will delay your period, u know.
have u considered getting acupuncture? to relax and rebalance everything

Can I direct you to the PCOS thread on this board if you haven't already been there. There are a few ladies who have undergone the tests there who will be more than happy to share their experiences I'm sure.

By cd42 with no Ovulation you may be looking at taking meds to bring on your period. I know Fruitloopy had to do this a month or to ago as she reached cd70 something.

Attilathemeerkat is also very good with the pcos/irregular periods side of things too. She will also be able to enlighten you as to what it all means.

sortycake I have had a ultrasound to check for pcos and I don,t have it.
I am worried to death I may be in menopause.
I do have thyroid problems so don,t know if that could be causing it.

How old are you? Does early menopause run in your family?

If your'e under a fertility specialist they may give you something to bring your period on if it doesn't start naturally.

actually, i know that taking the morning after pill brings on AF

I am 37 my mom and 2 sisters were between the ages of 38 and 40.

Thats the age when they started going through menopause.

I wouldn't stop ttc - my dd was conceived after 18 months without a hint of a period!

i'm afraid i am going to sound like a cliche. It sounds like sex is very much a chore at the moment. I wonder if your cycles are so erratic because your body is under so much pressure, maybe you need a holiday and a rest from TTC, that means not thinking about it anywhere near as much, hard i know.

We spent 6 months TTC our 1st after 2 miscarriages, so i put a lot of pressure on trying, because i so wanted to be pregant again. But something eased my mind. i had a feeling that i wouldn't get pregnant until the October, just a hunch, womens intuition. So we tried half heartedly the few months upto that, then BD early in my cycle, knowing it was too early to conceive but thought we'd have some fun. Then DH was ill or knackered the night we should have BD to conceive. testing date came and i was pregnant! because my body was relaxed and not really thinking about TTC.
DS 2 was conceived from a romantic night of passion, no trying, no checking for OV. Just building on our relationship after having DS1, and bingo, baby number 2.

You need to relax and hard to do but take a break, for the sake of your relationship. TTC is not a chore, it should be fun and romantic, in an ideal world.
