NHS Fertility Consultation Question

Hello!

My partner and I have our first fertility video consultation at the end of the month. We were told during this video call with the Dr we would be given our test results and planning would be discussed for what to do next.

I’m just wondering if anyone would know if during this video consultation they would prescribe medication if it’s decided that is what I would need or if I’d then be on a waiting list for the medication?

Thanks!
nel xx

in our first appointment we went through a treatment plan there and then, and were then sent away to wait for my cycle to start and all moved pretty quickly from there!

good luck 🤞🏼 xx

Have you had any scans or anything yet? Our first appointment was medical histories (both) and bloods (me). We were then sent away to have ultrasounds (me), sperm analysis (DH) and potentially an HSG as well (me) depending on the scan results. Once those results were all back, we had another appointment to agree the treatment plan (for us, that was letrozole). The medication was prescribed that day with a view to starting in the next cycle.

We did bloods and sperm analysis on NHS

Our first (private) specialist appointment was in person and he scanned my reproductive tract (abdominal) and booked a HSG and prescribed clomid.

2 months later, we got our BFP!

@Hannahx1992@CrispAppleStrudels@FernSaidSothank you so much for getting back to me! I can’t find anything on mum net about what to expect!

I’ve already had an ultrasound showing 1 cyst on my left ovary, DH had his analysis done privately this week and all came back fantastic. I have my bloods (full blood count and AMH) this coming Friday and then a video consultation to discuss the results at the end of the month. Do you think during the video consultation plan will be made and drugs may be prescribed so everything could get going for December? Xx

We had already has all our things done privately too so I think if you’ve got all your results and things you Probabaly will be good to start asap.

we had the initial one, which was in person but I imagine it’s the same thing and went through the plan. Then she sent us away with letters to sign etc, and said to call when my period started which I did, and I went in on day 3 for a scan, and left that day with the medication and injections etc!

it all seemed to move really fast once we went to that appointment!! It was scary but so exciting xx

I think it will depend if they want to do a HSG or HyCoSy. With an HSG, you cant get pregnant the same cycle it is done if i remember rightly? So that might be booked in for Dec and then you'd get the results in Jan. If they arent proposing that you have one, you might be able to start very soon!
