Are those one step early tests actually sensitive?

So I'm on CD27 today and tested negative on a one step ultra early this morning. My cycles vary from 24-28 days, usually around 26 so I'm not even late yet but I was convinced this was the month! Boobs are sore (not an AF symptom for me) and metallic taste, plus my usual pre AF chin boil is mysteriously absent!

I'm probably reaching but has anyone found these tests to be less sensitive than they claim or would it definitely be showing positive by now?

Feeling a bit sad this morning as it's felt like a promising month 🙁

Are you testing for ovulation? You should do that, and then work out your luteal phase length - which is usually fairly consistent (for example mine is 13 days long - so on the 14th after ovulation my period is due).

You may still be too early to tell - or your period may be due today. That makes a big difference in terms of whether the test is definitive or not. If you only ovulated 9-10 days ago or so, this is far too early to be sure. But if you ovulated 13/14 days ago you can be pretty sure you are out.

The tests are pretty decent at detecting low levels of hormone, but it's whether it's reasonable to expect any by now that matters.

Thanks @MocktailMe that makes sense!

I've tried tracking my ovulation and just don't seem to have much luck. I think around CD16 based on my CM & the one time i got a darkish line but I can never get a proper dark line on an opk for love nor money so I stopped bothering.

Okay so you are maybe 10dpo...in that case it's worth trying again if it's still negative in 3 days I would say you're out for the month.

I used them tests when I was pregnant with my daughter who’s now coming 4 months and I found in the very early days 9/10 dpo I’d have to leave the tests sitting for a good 15-20 mins before the colour came through yet all other tests appeared straight away. These tests are from 9/10 dpo
