Private endocrinologist experiences

Hi all,

Just wanted to see if anyone would share their experience paying privately to see an endocrinologist in the UK?

I’m not getting any help from my GP regarding my higher prolactin levels and TSH is almost at 5. I’m suffering the usual hormonal imbalance symptoms, fatigue, hair loss , acne , heat intolerance , anxiety , mood swings, cold hands and feet etc,

currently TTC also, I’m 27 years old ,

has anyone had a positive experience in seeing an endocrinologist in regards to balancing their hormones ?

thank you

I saw a private endocrinologist to get my thyroid under control when I kept having miscarriages. If you’re in the London area her name is Dr Rina Davison. I saw her at the holly hospital in Buckhurst Hill but she does have clinics in central London too I believe.

I found out the hard way that not all endocrinologists are the same and you want to be looking for a reproductive endocrinologist. Also my gp was useless when it came to my thyroid they just didn’t know enough about it in regards to TTC but they were very good at organising blood tests and prescribing my thyroxine whenever dr Davison wrote a letter explaining when she wanted a blood test doing and what level of thyroxine she wanted me on so I got those through the nhs.

Thank you for this ! If you don’t mind me asking what were your TSH levels ? Did it take you a long time to conceive because of your thyroid ?

@Rosienellyi can’t remember exactly now it was a couple of years ago but I think my at highest it was between 5 and 6 I conceive pretty quickly it usually only take 1/2 cycles but I had a problem with keeping them I had one MC at 10 weeks which was my first I didn’t even know I had a thyroid problem at that point then 3 after that were all around the 6/7 week mark they never developed a HB. It took me quite a while to find the right doctor I didn’t realise there were different thyroid specialists
