TTC and breastfeeding

DH and I have been TTC for the past 3 months (realise it may be early days) and I’m starting to wonder if breastfeeding my toddler might be interfering with my ovulation. Does anyone have any experience of this?
Some months I can clearly feel that I’m ovulating due to some cramping and other symptoms but other months it’s much less noticeable. I am wondering if I should start using ovulation strips. My toddler is almost 2 so I am only feeding her at night now, and I am not producing much milk at all anymore. I was happy to carry on the breastfeeding until she was ready to stop but am now a bit concerned that it’s stopping me falling pregnant again and I very much want another baby. I fell pregnant on the first cycle with DD so I’m not sure if I’m being a bit paranoid. I’m 31 and DH is 32 for info. Thanks for reading x

Breastfeeding is not contraception (as my mother who had me 13 months after my sister was born would always remind me!)

But, yes, it can mess with your cycle.

Are you having regular periods? Night feeding is more likely to interfere witb ovulation than day feeding

Yes I’ve been tracking on the Flo app and over the past year or so my cycles are always 26-28 days. I assumed the breastfeeding wasn’t interfering with anything as my cycle is regular and has been since DD was about 4 months x

It certainly can.

At 2 years old you can definitely just give some warm dairy milk and send little one to sleep. I'm already doing that with DC2 who's 14 months.

Good luck either way

I've just fallen pregnant with baby no 2 and I’m still bf’ing my 3 year old if that helps 😊
also conceived on clomid the first time around as I wasn’t actually ovulating. We only tried for 5 months this time x
