Donor egg conception

Has anyone had any experience of this? My husband and I are thinking of trying it later this year. I would appreciate any feedback on experiences and success.

I haven't had any experience of it - but I know there is a bit shortage of donor eggs in the Uk and, therefore, up to a two year wait - so most people go abroad.

There is a big shortage of donors here in the UK. I've recently been a donor for my sister (successfully - she is now about 6 months pregnant). You'll find lots of help and advice on the fertilityfriends wesbite - there is a donor thread.

I have a friend who was going through early menopause but didnt realise until they tried for a baby at 39 and tests were carried out. Normal IVF was ruled out completely. There is a huge shortage of donors due to the new rules regarding donation in the UK. They were quoted a 4 year wait time. They were heartbroken but decided to go to America where the results are excellent (59% live birth rate from donor eggs). Although it seems nonsense to go that far they only made 2 trips. The US clinics will 'counsel' you but they want you to use them. They are very much run as businesses but the outcome on the first attempt with an early menopause and a low sperm count is a new baby girl....

They did also have a look at the set up at the Bridge Clinic in London but werent happy with the way they were using women from Eastern Europe. Cost was very similar including flights.
