Ok here goes, we would like to try for another baby, I'm 41 on the mini pill and overweight with a back problem (spondylothesis) which got worse with last pregnancy 2004 and by the way it took us nearly a year to concieve. For financial reasons would like the end of the pregnancy to be after August 2009. Now for the question, shall I stay on the pill while I try (must) to lose weight before ttc or shall I stop taking pill and DH uses condoms? Only as I heard it takes 3 - 6 months for the pill to be out of your system. I hope this makes sense? (hmm)

How long did the pill take to come out of your system last time (assuming you were on it?)
TBH your choice of protection until Dec/Jan is up to you - would you prefer the convienience of the pill or can you be bothered with condoms every time? Personally I don't like condoms.
Will coming off the pill help you lose the weight? I think that really that's the main influencing factor at this time.
Is there a compromise? Come off the pill in Oct time say?

Yes was on the pill last time don't think it will help me lose weight although that would be great if it did. It's my DH that can't be bothered with condoms maybe for a few occasions and then that would be it.

In that case it sounds like there's a good chance the condom-wearing would fall by the wayside so you have to weigh up the chances of a baby before Aug 09.
You know all this really I'm sure

Also don't assume it will take a year to fall pg again - it could be first time or it could be much longer.
