I'm 6 weeks tomorrow. I used a frer today despite having a clear positive on all other tests, Easy at home , clearblue , clearblue digital , boots
The frer line was so unbelievably faint , I doubted the line for a moment. Having experienced loss before I panicked because its practically non exsistent. I went out and bought clearblue and was lucky enough to find a easy at home in the drawer. Phew, both clear much stronger lines.
Anyone else having this issue with frers? They used to be good. They are barely recognising me as pregnant

If you're 6 weeks then likely to be the hook effect? Your HCG is so high by now it will be confusing the test. If you Google it, it will explain better than I can but basically you can dilute your urine with water say 75% and should give you a darker line at this point.

@Wishingforfour no its definitely not the hook effect as id already tried this

Ah I'm sorry that's so weird then. I haven't had the issue but maybe you got a bad batch? As long as the other tests are dark then I would just put it down to faulty FRER's.

By any chance are you taking a pre-natal supplement that has Biotin in it?

@chouxchoux I'm aware biotin can affect results but I'm not having an issue with any other tests , they are displaying obvious positives.
From what ive researched , i think biotin also has to be in very high does to affect it and I don't think the amount in pre natals is enough to have that effect . You'd need to be taking a stand alone supplement.
I've never had an issue before and I've taken the same pre natal previously. I'm just baffled whats going on with the frers I bought

My understanding is that Biotin specifically affects FRERs. I'm having the same thing. Very dark dye-stealer lines on easy@homes, Wondfos, Clearblues, and then much much lighter FRERs. My HCG is 1200 so it's definitely a FRER anomaly and I'm (personally) convinced it's because my prenatal has Biotin in it!
