Did I ovulate?

Hi all!

Trying to make sense of this month of LH strips. I'm wanting to try for number 2 after surprise conceiving number 1 at 39, so this whole world of LH strips and BBT is completely new!

Please don't tell me to go to the GP, I need to have tried unsuccessfully for 6 months before they can refer me to a specialist. This is for me to understand for myself before we get to that point (sadly, I really wish I could just go now to get advice!)

Did I ovulate?

I thought as long as you got a second line it shows you ovulated?

Nope. That's not how LH tests work, they're not like HCG tests

Most women will always have a second line as there is always a small amount of LH present.

Just before ovulation you should have a surge of LH which is shown on a test as the test line being as dark as or darker than the control line.

Even this doesn't necessarily mean that you will definitely ovulate. You have to track BBT or check other blood hormone levels to confirm ovulation.

Nope. As PP says there is almost always a second line because it detects LH, but only when the test line is DARKER than the control line is it actually a positive test.

Even then an LH test alone never actually confirms ovulation you’d need far more info for that, all the LH tests confirm is that there was a peak.
