I have endometrial hyperplasia will this affect my chances of getting pregnant in the future?

I am on hormones for at least 6 months prob a year to get rid of it but I am extremly broody and we were thinking of starting some point next year (will be late next year now) but will this afffect my chances?

Hi Nymphadora I don't know how much medical knowledge you have or what the doctor has told you but an a lot of online medical journal sites have papers about endometrial hyperplasia...below is the abstract from one such article.

"Findings in a long-term follow-up study of 97 young women with endometrial hyperplasia are presented. In 24 patients (25%), the endometrial hyperplasia was associated with sclero-cystic ovaries consistent with the so-called Stein-Leventhal syndrome. Fertility in all of these patients was low; only 26 (27%) conceived in the years after endometrial hyperplasia was diagnosed, in spite of the desire and efforts to conceive. Only 20 patients (21%) carried their pregnancy to term. In 14 patients (14%), the lesion progressed to adenocarcinoma 1 to 14 years after the initial diagnosis of endometrial hyperplasia. Thirty-seven patients (38%) continued to have menstrual irregularities from 1 to 30 years after the diagnosis. Forty patients (41%) had a hysterectomy by the sixteenth year after the diagnosis. Outlined is a planned, aggressive, but flexible method of management that would promote a high conception rate and less chance for the endometrial hyperplasia to progress to adenocarcinoma. "

From this limted test on 97 women with the condition you can see that fertility is affected hoever it is not impossible to conceive, and with treatment that takes into consideration the fact you are TTC you still have a good chance of conceiving.

Sorry...a short addition!! endometrial hyperplasia can occur once be treated and never return so if you receive treatment and the hyperplasia goes away there shouldnt be any long term affects on your fertility!

I hope so too. Consultant wasn't much use and what knowledge I have has been from GP but I don't always ask the right things or the answers provide more questions. I go back to consultant in Nov for more tests but GP thinks I will be treated for a year and not to ttc before I am cleared.

I've been diagnosed with Complex hyperplasia, I am on tablets for 6month called Provera, I don't have children, but I really want children too, I am back in 6month for another hysterscopy and biopsy to see if my womb lining has thinned out, the cells that are causing this are causing me not to release any eggs and I am not.producing the female hormone either, did you get sorted Nypmhadora? As I am worried about mine thanks xx

Hi all. I've just been diagnosed with endometrial hyperplasia I'm 23 and my consultant has said this is rare for someone of my age! I'm a little worried after that. I'm on medroxyprogesterone for 6 months then have to go back for another hysteroscopy. I'm getting really broody at the minute!! Hope this doesn't affect my chances of have a baby.

hi i'm 23 and recently my doc said that i'm affected of endometrial hyperlasia of 22mm thickness. now i'm worried that.. will i get pregnency.. and am i affected to endometrial cancer?? pls surely tell me truth... b coz i really don't know about endometrial thickness still i got it

good day....i have endometrial cyst before and this last month of july i already operated for endometrial...do i have a chance to get pregnant after the doctor remove my cyst on my left ovary...my doctor said my ovaries dont have damages but my hubby and i need to be active sex excercise and should be getting pregnant before become 1year...can you help me some advice about this...thanks
