BFP 11 days post trigger shot (10DPO)?

Hi, I had a trigger shot (5000iu of Zivafert) on 19th August and had my IUI on the 20th August. My wife and I have done a test today as I couldn’t stop crying and just desperately felt the need to test. My period is due next Wednesday, could this still be the trigger shot? It was taken at 12pm, after holding in a wee for a bit. Don’t want to get excited 😞

These look like my 11-12 DPO BFP

PumpkinSpicedLatte · 30/08/2025 13:59

@samsonthekitten did you have a trigger shot?

No x

rainycoldboo · 30/08/2025 17:24

Did they say how long it’s meant to take to go out of your system?

PumpkinSpicedLatte · 30/08/2025 18:06

@rainycoldboo they advised we don’t test until 10th September (3 week wait) to be sure but that it’s always out the system by day 14 but can be earlier as some people metabolise it faster. Going to test tomorrow and the day after to see if it gets darker. Assuming it will get lighter if it is the trigger shot and darker if pregnant?

@PumpkinSpicedLatteyea I’d guess so - wishing you luck?

Btowngirl · 30/08/2025 22:05

My trigger was out my system by day 5 or 6 as I tested it out. Good luck op. We had our first via IUI and the wait time is so long!

YoungMacDonald · 31/08/2025 07:27

Those look like strong positives for 11 days post trigger. Especially the blue dye test.

I would be feeling quietly hopeful in your situation op and would be testing every day because I have no willpower!

PumpkinSpicedLatte · 31/08/2025 08:43

@YoungMacDonald fantastic username! Me and my wife have just chuckled at it!
thank you so much for this. We’ve done another this morning and it is still positive, no lighter either which is a good sign right? We have no willpower either it’s killing us 🤦‍♀️ I feel so lonely 😭

@Btowngirl thanks so much. This is really reassuring, and I’m so glad you know what the wait is like as it’s felt so lonely at times. I work in medical as well so see ultrasounds every day which has been hard!
I wish I’d tested the shot out at the start 🤦‍♀️

@PumpkinSpicedLatte its awful isn’t it! We also tested so early with the IUI, maybe 8 days post procedure. I’ll post a pic of the tests. I don’t want to be toxically positive but yours looks like a good positive!

We did 2 further rounds for our second but ended up having IVF in the end which is when I tested out the trigger. We didn’t think to do that with my wife’s IUI though. Have you had any symptoms?

It’s just constantly on your mind isn’t it. Try and do something wholesome and relaxing for you both today. I’ve got everything crossed for you 🤞

@Btowngirl thank you so much for the pictures, that’s so nice to see! And mine does look very similar to the 4th one down of yours doesn’t it?!
I am 11 days post IUI now, but not sure if I ovulated on the day of my procedure or later as I know the trigger shot can take 22-36 hours can’t it, but the theatre team (had it done in theatre) said everything looked so positive, follicles were great size, uterus lining was perfect etc so I’m really trying to be positive . I have started with mild back ache , headache today and my breast have started to enlarge which they don’t normally do before a period. The wait is just awful I’m praying so hard I don’t get my period. Sorry your second round didn’t work but so glad your IVF did xx

A test today that’s no lighter is a very good sign indeed! I always found the red dye tests better at showing line progression so if you have more Easy@Home tests, use those every morning rather than the Clear Blue.

Yeah, I’ve got a small farm but I’m not old so the username kind of stuck 😂

PumpkinSpicedLatte · 01/09/2025 07:55

@YoungMacDonald does this look positive to you?

Sorry Op, I missed your message yesterday. All sounds so positive with the symptoms as well as the tests! Today’s looks great to me. It’s so hard to believe it yourself though isn’t it. Do you know roughly when your clinic will have you in for confirmation scan if still positive by the test date?

No don’t worry. I felt peaceful when we moved over to IVF after the failed IUI tbh. Plus I feel grateful, we have had 3 IUI’s and 1 IVF between us for our 2 DD’s and embryos in the freezer. It’s a lucky scenario to how it could have been xx

YoungMacDonald · 01/09/2025 08:39

Yes @PumpkinSpicedLatte that looks very positive to me. I feel confident enough to say huge congratulations to you. Very well done!

samsonthekitten · 01/09/2025 11:06

Looks very positive! Praying it all goes well for you

VioIetMoon · 02/09/2025 11:31

@PumpkinSpicedLatte was it a hcg trigger? I triggered on the night of 13th August and yesterday I had a faint positive pregnancy test. I'm wondering can that still be from the trigger ( we did ivf but no transfer as we froze our two embryos, and we haven't achieved a pregnancy in 20 years trying naturally )

PumpkinSpicedLatte · 02/09/2025 13:23

@VioIetMoon thank you for your message. Yes it was a HCG trigger, I’ll detail some info below for you that you will hopefully find reassuring like I did (info from my work-I work in clinic)

  • The hCG half-life is about 24–36 hours in most women.
  • That means every 1–1.5 days, the amount in your body halves.

Assuming a 28 hour half life of a medication, it declines in the blood by 30 ish percent every 28 hours, so I started with 5000iu injection (hcg shot) and by day 10 only 3% roughly left which with a 25ml hcg test (clear blue not sensitive) it was no longer detectable, as it was roughly 3ml iu left. Hope this helps. Really hoping it works out for you x

ChocHotolate · 02/09/2025 13:28

When I did mine, I took pregnancy tests everyday so I could track the HCG trigger shot leaving. By about day 11-12 I was getting positive tests again and she is now almost 5. Good luck xx

PumpkinSpicedLatte · 02/09/2025 13:35

@ChocHotolate thank you, my wife and I were saying we wished we had known this as we would’ve done this too. My test is super dark now so we are definitely pregnant!
