Hi everyone, setting up a new months thread for those of us who already know weโ€™re out for August. Iโ€™m going on to cycle 3. Hope this can continue to be a place where we can chat and support one another.

Hi darl, sorry about the bfn. If I'm not wrong, implantation can happen after 9dpo as well. The test wont be positive if implantation is yet to happen. Don't give up yet! I just got up from the longest flu of my life. 9 dpo today. But the bbt and symptoms are all over the place because of the flu. Havenโ€™t tested yet, SO frustrated.

Thank you, Iโ€™ll hold out some more hope then.

I was always under impression that if you get pms symptoms & BFN then youโ€™re not pregnant, because if the symptoms were pregnancy-caused then the test would show the hormone and be positive, as itโ€™s the same hormones that cause symptoms?
So if negative then only PMS could be causing the symptoms if that makes sense
If Iโ€™m wrong Iโ€™m happy to be! ๐Ÿ˜‚

Implantation can happen bwtween 5-11 dpo. Before that happens, any pms/ pregnancy symptoms are caused by progesterone as our body prepares every month just in case there is a baby. With my dd, I had bad nausea on 9dpo but had implantation bleeding on 12dpo, thinking af was starting. Female body is so weird! ๐Ÿ˜‚

Not trying to give you false hope. Just saying you are not out till you are out. โค๏ธ

As someone currently on progesterone suppositories and suffering from what feels like raging PMS, @Mash0917 is spot on - it's the progesterone that gives you the symptoms. Even after a positive test, for most people the rising progesterone levels will be what cause the initial symptoms as opposed to the hCG.

On a related note, I don't know if it's just the hormones but I emailed my clinic about what we need to do to start our next IUI cycle if I get a negative test to ensure that we can do it consecutively and got such an unhelpful response about needing to have three different appointments and then order medication, all in the time between my negative test and Day 2 of my next cycle (which at best will likely be four or five days, two of which are weekend when they aren't open for consult appointments). When I said that it sounded like they were saying we therefore couldn't do consecutive cycles they were just super-vague like, oh it just depends on timing, but then told me to just keep a positive attitude about this cycle ๐Ÿ™„Our odds of it working are, at best, about 15%, it's called being a realist so I don't keep my work calendar clear of travel only to discover we can't actually do a cycle at all.

That is so frustrating, sometimes there can be such a disconnect between clinicians and people actually really trying to conceive - it's understandably really urgent and important for you so to be greeted with quite a breezy response can be really frustrating. I'm sorry you're having this experience - can you try and push to get a few appointments on the same day perhaps given the timing issues with the weekend?

Sending lots of support your way

Thanks - this is what I'm going to try to do but they won't book anything until they know this cycle hasn't worked. Obviously I hope it does! But would be good to be prepared if it doesn't.

ChaE05 · 09/09/2025 16:10

@blackberryhillunderstand your frustration. When you are trying to concieve literally ever cycle counts. Especially when it's been months/years of trying. You just don't want to wait around. They sounded very unhelpful. Sometimes I find it easier to speak to someone, so I'd be likely to give them a call x

FunnySam · 09/09/2025 16:27

@Mash0917 This is good to know, thank you!! Will keep the wine away then

FunnySam · 09/09/2025 16:28

@blackberryhill Their no sense of urgency would frustrate me, is it worth calling & trying to chat with someone else to see what else can be done?

This is so frustrating. Specially when you are trying to prep early so you don't miss another precious cycle, and they behave like it's no big deal. :-( Hold strong. <3

I caved and did a test this morning, 10 dpo. BFN. I am just so down for a different reason, though. My flu didn't respond to any meds BUT ibuprofen. So I have been on ibuprofen 4 times a day for 6 days straight! And I was so loopy with fever and aches, I forgot the probable effect ibuprofen is said to have on implantation or conception. I was very excited about this cycle. Now, I don't know anymore.:-(

overwork · 10/09/2025 08:05

Pretty sure NC will confirm that I ovulated today or yesterday, come tomorrow, so back to waiting for me! If it was today, we managed this morning, 2 days out and 3 days out, so we missed the best day but hopefully weโ€™re still in with a chance. Weโ€™re going away for a few days at the weekend so that will take my mind off it

Thanks everyone - I'm just trying to relax and not stress about it for now. I'll be a little annoyed if we can't do the next one consecutively but if we can't then I'm going to take the opportunity to optimise my diet and supplements and get a full set of Day 2 and Day 21 bloods run whilst I'm unmedicated so that hopefully I can ensure that our next cycle is as good as it can be.

overwork · 10/09/2025 11:25

And you might be pregnant from this go anyway! ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿผ

itโ€™s all so much waiting isnโ€™t it!

Marvelftw · 10/09/2025 18:35

@blackberryhill Sorry to hear about the runaround with the doctor. Iโ€™m waiting to hear back some news from them and will probably have to chase soon. Itโ€™s annoying as when you said time is precious when TTC!

OP posts:
CityKity · 10/09/2025 19:55

@blackberryhill Iโ€™m so sorry your clinic were so unhelpful. Surely they know that an unsuccessful cycle means you would want to go straight again? I understand that there might be additional things they would want to check before doing another cycle, but I think just being upfront and letting you know that in advance would have been so helpful mentally, rather than being so vague! Everything crossed for this cycle. When are you testing?

@Mash0917 sorry about the BFN and flu ๐Ÿ˜ข. Iโ€™ve been sick this cycle too (over ovulation grrrr) and itโ€™s rubbish. Iโ€™ve been taking antibiotics that should not be taken if pregnant so think thatโ€™s me out too. DH asked what I thought our chances were and I said zero - I donโ€™t think my body will think itโ€™s a great time to make a baby when itโ€™s recovering.

@overwork sounds like you've got a great chance to me! Whatโ€™s NC btw? Great to have weekend plans to distract you, Iโ€™ve got 9days to kill before AF arrives so need some major distraction.

5DPO and felt some cramping today so obviously massively overthinking regardless of this cycle not going to plan. This is only my first month TTC and I totally get how itโ€™s so easy to get obsessed.

overwork · 10/09/2025 20:10

@CityKityNatural Cycles. Though I have little faith in it, using it to not get pregnant resulted in my son, so whether it can actually help to get me pregnant is the question!

bluepears96 · 10/09/2025 20:11

6DPO today and getting totally consumed by it. I felt a crampy twinge earlier and have had some very mild lower back pain this evening.

I hate how Iโ€™m over thinking every little feeling I have.

I might test tomorrow because I just canโ€™t wait๐Ÿ˜ซ

ttcnumerodos · 10/09/2025 21:43

Hope everyone is doing ok. We had our appointment at the infertility clinic on Monday finally (phoned the consultant in January after we'd been trying for 6 months). It was quite hopeful, just to book in for blood tests at my next period, to get a hycosy and DH to do a sperm sample. All looking likely to take 8 weeks tho, and I'm just so conscious we're running out of time, both 41. Feeling really disheartened tonight as my lh levels are taking forever to rise, and we're away camping with DS this weekend - would be just our luck for me to ovulate over the weekend with no chance to dtd. The past two months DH has been away with work during ovulation too. Suuuuch a rollercoaster isn't it? ๐Ÿ˜ญ

HayleyD84 · 10/09/2025 21:46

Does anyone else get really bad pains when ovulating?
I get really bad pains / cramps way worse than period pains, then I get CM then the pain goes.

It makes it so difficult to DTD when I'm in pain ๐Ÿ˜ซ

If Iโ€™m honest- no, only had twinges before not full cramps during ovulation. Online says itโ€™s normal but the severity youโ€™re getting them to cause some pain, have you mentioned this to GP?

HayleyD84 · 10/09/2025 21:55

No not spoken to them but maybe I will do

I do get some pain but itโ€™s not severe enough that I need to take any painkillers for it and it doesnโ€™t interfere with sex. Iโ€™d definitely get it checked out just to make sure.

@CityKity Oh gosh! This is annoying! Hugs! <3

@HayleyD84 I have extreme O pain every month. Painful to a point where all I can do is lie down with a heat pack. And dtd is the last thing on my mind when that happens. I usually take painkillers to numb the pain and then get to the dtd part. :-p Same happened with my dd. The pain actually made me miss dtd on O day a few cycles. Then I started taking painkillers, and I have a 6yo dd now. So this I have started doing it from get go.
