How soon can you/do you wash yourself 'down there' after sex? [blush]

None of the books I've read tell you how long it takes for the little swimmers to get into your uterus. How long should I leave it all sticky down there? . TMI maybe, but if you can't ask on MN who can you ask?!

Bumping for you - have no idea, but was wondering how long i should lie with my bum in the air before they all fall out (grim, TMI) myself, so kinda the same thing!
I can't believe the kind of things we can get away with posting, either xx

well I was up like a flash the night DS3 (and 2 for that matter) were conceived (definite "oops" moments LOL) they're here so didn't seem to make too much of a difference

Apparently lying horizontal for 10-15 minutes can help!

No harm in washing straight after that as all the important stuff has got up to the right place - just don't douche.

Actually the sperm go to the cervix first and stay there before travelling up into the uterine cavity.

Lying down after sex is actually not at all necessary - enough sperm will get to the cervix from where they will not escape.

I don't know about lying down, but I did try not to cough directly after having sex.

I know it's not necessary to lie down afterwards, but I do use it as an excuse to remain lying down and not get up to do some housework etc

TCOYF says you might want to lie down for about 20-30 minutes after sex if your partner has a marginal sperm count, but says that it's usually not necessary. Also I've read somewhere that the whole 'legs in the air' thing might actually be worse for you than not doing it, as the semen might go past the cervix!
