Bleeding after embryo transfer

Help, I should know about this, Lord knows I have done it enough. I have never had spotting after an embryo transfer, should I be worried? It was a FET in a natural cycle, with day 3 embryos. I had a little cramping afterwards, but not for long and tonight I noticed brownish pinky mucus, nothing dramatic but enough to get worried about. Is this normal and has anyone been pg despite it.

I'm no expert on this - but it could well be an implantation bleed - but you should call your fertility unit for advice. Try not to worry too much, what will be will be, you've done the deed now, you just have to wait a bit and hope

Good luck.

Soosy, I would have thought pinky mucus would come from a scratch to your cervix rather than anything else, just like when you have a smear test. Can you call your clinic tomorrow to put your mind at rest?

mostlyalurker · 30/05/2008 22:05

Could it be an implantation bleed?. (fingers crossed)

CHOCOLATEPEANUT · 30/05/2008 22:06

Hope everything is ok. I knowe lots of women bleed a little.

xx

Thanks OAP, They don't answer the phone on Saturday, I don't know whether I would be popular if I rang the emergency number, I do think it might be a cervix scratch, especially as doc was rushing off somewhere afterwards. If I don't get anymore I'll try not to worry. There isn't a lot I can do about it now anyway.

Also, remember that any bleed under a teaspoon can easily be implantation bleeding. It is quite likely to be a cervical scratch. Just take it easy till Monday.

Onlyaphase · 30/05/2008 22:12

Would have thought you'd get a friendly nurse (rather than a unsympathetic consultant) on the emergency weekend number, and frankly you are paying enough for this treatment to warrant bothering a nurse (who is on call already) on a Saturday!

Thanks chocolate! I think it may be a trifle early for implantation bleed. Hanging hopes on cervical scratch.

True OAP, I'll call tomorrow.

Eh? When did you have the transfer - remember that the embryos are already fertilised so you are not going through the conception bit (which takes several days), you are purely hoping that the embryos embed, which takes between two and 24 hours.

I had an implantation bleed 24 hours after the sex which caused the conception - so it's entirely possible.

Of course it could be a scratch. You may be pregnant and not get an implantation bleed, but right now you have no reason to think negatively and every reason to be happy and hopeful.

Thanks Chocolate! I had the transfer yesterday at Noon, had slight cramping on the way home only for about two or three minutes, which stopped when I had a pee. Still bleeding, though it is a very small amount. Reason I am being negative is that I think this is my 18th embryo transfer (lost count) and it has never happened before, I have been pg three times (one chemical, one m/c and one DS). I will try to forget about it, or at least to be positive! Have a good weekend.
